    That's it. Many people do not increase their bid unless they see that they are losing. If you snipe the bid, they will never see that they are losing.

    Thanks for the clarification droxford - that is it. In a world where EVERYONE puts in their true max bid and walks away, sniping is a waste of time. But there are many people who's initial max bid is not their true max bid and those people cost you time (items you lost and now have to go find and bid on another) or money (they jack your price up by allowing them another max bid).
