With all the relief efforts going on at the 'Dome, is Astroworld going to be open this weekend? My ex is taking my son to Houston this weekend, and she wants to take him to Astroworld. Any other weekend and I would be fine with it, but I'm a little concerned because of all the displacement of people from Katrina. Should I be concerned?
Yes. I have a friend who is a firefighter, and he was out at the dome yesterday helping the people who came from NO. He said there were two attempted car jackings, some car break-ins, and countless fights. I wouldn't take my child close to that area right now.
My Friend just finished Police Academy and he is stationed on the night shift at the Astrodome he says it's pretty crazy sometimes out there. They have to really watch things because these people have lost everything and they are going to do crazy things at times. Of course not everyone is like that just a small minority that are basically acting like they have been caged up and need to retaliate in some ways. They have nothing to lose according to him and they had a couple of car chases and other things.
I would be concerned. Astroworld has really leveled off in recent years. The rides which were "scary" once upon a time, really isn't scary anymore.
No the rides are just scary for a brand new set of reasons. Years ago the rides were "scary" because they were fun and thrilling to ride. Now they are scary because those same rides are decrepid and are always in need of repair, so the ride you get might not be the one you had in mind. It just makes for a new and interesting fun-filled adventure at Astroworld.
