Gr8-1, you are correct about Dotel as a starter. He would pitch really well until he got to about 80 pitches then he would just completely implode. It's probably because he throws so hard and doesn't really throw any soft stuff. If he developed a consistent change or curver he would be able to go deeper as a starter. But the way he pitches now with strait power, the pen is the best place for him.

The stros would be MORONS to dump Dotel right now. Like everybody already said here, Dotel is THE BEST all around reliever in the NL. He's gone from being a so-so starter to being NAILS in the bullpen. I hope he enjoys it, because he could have a very long career ahead of him in the bully. As far as Dotel starting, I think part of his problem is also that he doesn't have much more than the fastball. It just seemed that he'd get to the 4th or 5th and be shelled -- like guys would catch up to the fastball, and his other stuff wasn't good enough to stop them. But in 2 to 3 inning stretches, he's just unbeatable. ------------------ I'm looking for a job, so hire me "And I just have to smile and say 'well, I hope so' while I'm really thinking inside how I'd like to just strangle them and take their job."
