I never had realized that stats are retroactive. I guess since the Astros won 104 games in 98, that we can use them this year? What relevence does Cruz's career stats have to do with how bad he's doing now?

Are you saying that I should put faith in him? I'd rather put my faith in some Buddhist statue than Cruz.

As for Hidalgo, those stats are inflated by that hot streak. He is sure to get on a dryspell, and will probably end up hitting .270, 25 HRs, and 90 RBIs or so. Hidalgo's inconsistency is a microcosm of the entire offense.

Using stats to "show" the Astros have a good offense is very laughable. Because of the inconsistent play of the offense. One night we score 7 or 8, then we score 2-3 runs in the next couple games. It averages out to a nice figure, but when you're offense goes to s#it more often than not, stats don't really matter at all.

The most important stat is W's. Unfortunately, the offense rarely has contributed to W's.

Stats are meaningless unless you look at the big picture. Clearly you have failed to do so.

Since Mid-May, he has pitched 13 innings, giving up 2 runs for an ERA of 1.38.

baseball is all about hot and cold streaks. richard's hot right now, he probably can't continue that pace but hopefully he doesn't tail off too much and comes back with another hot streak. it's unfair to say his stat's are inflated by a streak because it's the same for any player.
