two of the young aces in the league can't combine to produce half as decent game as Randy Johnson.
We need to play against the braves to get our SP's heated up again...

I honestly think Roy may be tipping some of his pitches... his location hasn't been too bad, and his stuff is still electric.

A lot of his game is based on deception, since he's got that slow slow breaker... and during his final inning, I was pretty much able to predict when he'd throw what, whether it be fastball, or curve ball.

The Mets (Cliff Floyd) waited for his curve, the Marlins have sat on fastballs and curves tonight... either Roy's getting predictable, or he's doing something subconsious.

If he needed help, he wouldn't have to stray far... just ask Andy Pettite about the 2001 World Series against the Diamondbacks.

    Nick,

I actually started thinking the same thing tonight.

When a pitcher is spotting his fastball, in different locations, in the mid 90s and getting his 68 MPH curve over when he wants, he shouldnt be hit around like this.

Despite his good ERA before tonight, I felt he has struggled, especially in the late innings. Hitters just seem to be right on top of his pitches.

I was thinking the same thing. The Marlins just seem to know what he is going to throw.

I honestly think Jack McKeon is going to rot in hell. He's begging for Beckett to blow out his arm. You just don't throw a guy his age that long.

It didn't even make baseball sense. Beckett's been getting hit hard since the 7th.

Strike zone has been weird all year, hasn't it? I honestly have no feel for this guy's strike zone. Sometimes he gives the corner, sometimes not. Sometimes he's calling the low strike, other times not.

Worst type of ump. Not only is his strike zone bad, but it's inconsistent as well.

That said, when an ump is like that, doesn't matter how good your eye is... you've got to swing if it's close.

How is it possible that the officiating has declined this drastically? I don't remember it being this terrible 2-3 years ago.

Yeah, I thought, even though its close, he has to get some wood on that and at least foul it off and wait for another pitch.

BTW, Lance used to be excellent at taking outside fastballs the opposite way. It is just me, or has he not done that hardly at all this year??? (not that I am complaining about his hitting in general)
