Thread for the series with the 'Spos.

    Pitching Probables:
    4-25-- Robertson (1-2, 6.53) vs Day (1-1, 2.59)

4-26-- Linebrink (0-1, 6.75) vs. Claudio Vargas ( First start of the season)

    4-27-- Redding (1-2, 2.95) vs. Ohka (2-2, 1.78)

Fearless Prediction: The average attendance will be less than 6,000.

This post has been edited to reflect the changes in Starting Pitching.

Armas just went on the DL I think. This series looks bad for us though. Here comes a drop kicking. I can't believe we got killed by the sorry ass Mets. :(

Looks like we'll be saying "When does football season start" sooner than expected this year...

Moehler was placed on the DL. Scott Linebrink will start Saturday's game and Brandon Puffer has been called up from Nawlins to help out in the bullpen.

Linebrink? Why not Saarloos or Fernandez? As I understand it both are pitching pretty well in AAA.

Yeah and Linebrink has been anything but solid. The only reasoning I can see is if it is for a short stint and they don't want to burn options(I have become very familiar with this the past couple of weeks thanks to the f-ing D-Backs).

I guess Hunsicker and Pupura wanted to give more time to Saarloos in AAA. Maybe they're working on his mechanics. With Fernandez, the Astros would have to buy his contract, place him on the 40 man roster and risk loosing the guy by placing him on waivers when the ship him back to New Orleans after a start or two.

Fernandez most probably won't be looked at as an option until a trade happens or if somebody gets hit with a longterm injury. I'm confused why Munro isn't getting the 2 starts while Linebrink stays in the pen.

Maybe because Pete has gotten so many innings in relief so far. They might be worried about burning him out.

You do not burn options. A guy has 3 option years once added to the 40 man roster. In those three years a player can be called up or sent down as many time as the team would like.

I think you're right. He and all of the other bullpen members have thrown more pitches than could have been foreseen.

It sure will be nice when Oswalt and Miller get into a groove.

I don't necessarily have a problem with the Astros letting Reynolds go with his reduced fastball velocity and age concerns this spring, but I do fault the team in not getting a decent third, or fourth starter in lieu of him. The threat in the division is not the Cardinals...they are in much the same boat as the Astros...the team who could run away with it are the Cubs. I think cutting Reynolds sent another message to the team that Drayton is simply not serious about winning. For the first time in a long time the National League is there for the taking for the Astros and they are being bypassed once again. The season is young, but god they look uninspired out there.
