Lidge has definitely been lesser than last season's Lidge. He's definitely hittable and not really fooling anyone. Maybe it is because of the lack of work? I can't believe the Astros are blowing another one. I would say if Roger didn't tighten up...then we probably would have won. This is just another case of bad luck for the Astros.
Lidge with the wild pitch...another run scores for the Cubs. CAN ANYTHING ***KING ELSE GO WRONG WITH THIS TEAM? *#%^
Yet he still leads all relief pitchers in strikeouts. I think its definitely a lack of work at this point... especially on road games. He's got no rhythym out there, and he's lost command of his slider. Remember the first road game of the season (against the Mets) where we gave Lidge the day off cause we figured we didn't want him to throw his arm out (and with the rate he was pitching...4 of the first 5 games... that was looking likely).... man, how times have changed since.
This is just painful to watch... just puts you in the worst mood... Sorry, someone needs to answer for this horrible baseball.... coaching perhaps...
I changed it to Famliy Guy on Adult Swim. I can't stand this anymore. My buzz from the Bud at the pool is still good...and this game isn't.
is something still wrong with lidge? this is the first time i've seen him pitch in about a month and i didn't even recognize him. he looks like he's lost about 15 pounds and both his pitches were 5 mph slower than normal. his fastball was the same speed as his normal slider, i thought by now he'd have his strength back?
They seem to be on a run right now. 7 in a row! If ya aren't sad yet, take a look at this page. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=hou
The problem I have is.. I'm dedicated to my teams. I watch them win or lose... but with this team.. it's starting to get to the point that the games are just painful to watch. If this continues.. I don't know if the games will even be enjoyable to watch. and why watch sports if it isn't enjoyable. of course the big fan I am.. i don't know if i can stop following them. but it would be a lot less painful than this!
I think you have a fire sale with the team and Lidge should be on the list. I got this idea from a Sporting News collumn by Ken Rosenthal and I agree with him. The Astros can get a bundle for him now while his value is at its height. I look into making a deal for him because of the value you get back and the fact that he has a history of arm problems. Even if Lidge stays I think the Astros need to slash and burn this roster even more. If we're going to suck let's make this suck mean something for the future. Now that's an ad campaign!
I'd keep Lidge, but I would consider moving Lane & Burke. Not that we could get anything for either of them, they suck.
Here where I live for some odd reason, we have a street named LASTRO, how fitting. I need to get a pic.
You have to look at this from a sports radio GM standpoint. The more the Astros suck, the more angry people will call in to complain. You'll have "Fire Garner" and "Fire Purpura" thread to last you until the all star break, and then the "Should we trade Clemens to the Yankees" threads will take you until the trade deadline in August, when preseason football starts. If all else fails, there's always "Batman Week" Vandermeer better start honing his Batman knowledge...
So ummm....I'm not able to see the game on FSSW or ESPN! Philies are on ESPN for me and a story about a blind girl riding horses is on FSSW. WTF?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
