Please keep this to talk about the series. As usual no Play-by-Play, or general Astros talk. If you need play by play see one of the many other sites that have game casts. 4-12 Wandy Rodriguez, LHP (0-1, 4.50) vs. Adam Wainwright, RHP (1-0, 2.57) 3:15 on FSH 4-14 Brett Myers, RHP (0-0, 6.00) vs. Brad Penny, RHP (0-0, 1.29) 7:15 on FSH 4-15 Bud Norris, RHP (0-1, 10.12) vs. Kyle Lohse, RHP (0-0, 6.00) 12:40 on FSH
Holy crap...it's been a very long time since I posted...I'll start a thread on that later...However, it's been agonizing and brutal watching the stros stink it up...Could we get a win this series? Highly unlikely, but I can dream... LLL
Pujols. Watching him against the Brewers last night, makes me very scared. We really need Wandy to dominate. Hopefully we can score on Lohse.
This is where re-arranging the rotation could really come in handy. Sacrifice Brett Myers against Wainwright and give Wandy a chance with Lohse...
Timmy on Baseball Tonight was talking about just that. I don't think Lee is very tradeable, but I wouldn't be surprised if Oswalt gets moved. Berkman has to get healthy before anything happens with him. The team should focus on trading Wandy, who's still at a bargain salary. I also think it wouldn't be a bad move to trade even a young guy like Pence, for even younger players, but that won't happen.
If Wandy continues like last year, he could fetch a fortune at the deadline. In both of their cases (along with Bourn), the team needs to figure out if these guys are in their future plans. If Pence/Bourn are, they should seriously look at signing them to long-term (5-7 yr type) deals at a discounted price. Same with Wandy, except not for quite so long a deal. See if the players are willing to trade dollars for longterm security. The players may not want them, but if they can do what the Brewers did with Braun or Tampa Bay did with a few of their guys, it positions the franchise much better for the longterm (these guys aren't nearly as good so you should be able to sign them much cheaper).
That's the spirit! See, now if they win one, you'll be excited instead of being disappointed by the losses.
Without Berkman's bat we are basically going to be the New Jersey Nets of major league baseball for awhile
