    it's not that, it's just that it was the textbook thing to do at that situation. The double switch saved lidge from having to bat or the possibility of having him pitch only 1 inning in a crucial game. That was the perfect move with one inning remaining. Gipson played 1 inning of defense; Garner's just playing with nothing for granted.

    I'm still working under the mindset that i'm pitching lidge one inning tonight. maybe Gar is gonna let him go two.

    I know it was the perfect move... but I think DH was talking about "wasting" Gipson becuse they just pinch-hit for him with Baggy. I pointed out that we have plenty of players to waste in September, and this would not be the typical move in a post-season game without the extra players.
