Pretty sure those games will be blacked out here in Houston . .BUT . .we can watch the Rangers any time they aren't playing the Astros!

    Pretty sickening huh

Well, not sure how much my radio actually cost, I know how much it was on the sticker . .not cheap . .in any case, I can get clear signals from San Antonio, Dallas, and even Denver at night . . .but not 790

Glad you have a great AM radio though, congrats

790 has the same signal strength as 610, 950 etc. It's all about direction. AM signals are shot in certain directions to prevent from bleeding into similar frequencies in other markets. Each station will have areas around town that you won't be able to hear at night. Only KTRH the 50,000 watt blow torch can be heard everywhere all the time.

As for Rockets/Astros conflicts, you won't miss any Astros games. When both teams are playing, the Astros will be moved to one of the other Clearchannel stations.

My understanding is that it all has to do with how cheap your radio is.

Yeaaah, I dont have a cheap radio in my car(its a Blaupunkt) and I dont get 790 in Baytown. I get 740 just fine in both Baytown and Channelview(where I work)

really Max? You are surprised that the corporate dickwads only care about the money and not whether the fans are getting what they want?

Comcast SportsNet Houston will carry 157 of the Astros’ 162-game schedule in its first season as the team’s broadcast partner, the network announced today.

ESPN will air the March 31 season opener against the Rangers, and four Saturday games will air on Fox and in Houston on KRIV (Channel 26). The rest will air on CSN Houston, including three early-season games that will air on an alternate channel because they conflict with Rockets games.

But Matt, the signal strength at night can't be the same as 610? I can get 790 and 610 equally strong during the day, but at night 610 stays strong while 790's signal reduces significantly??

Alan Ashby is awful. He reminds me why I like to listen to some broadcasts on mute with music playing in the background.

I like Robert Ford (new radio guy) and it's clear that he preps well. I just wish he wasn't monotone, like I am

I don't mind him. This is the first year I've watched Astros broadcasts. I've always listened on the radio, and I can say I much prefer the TV guys over the days of listening to Milo. In fact, I really like Geoff Blum.
