You're ruining the reverse psychology. I can't believe we got a base-runner in the first inning of a Clemens start... amazing!
god damnit why isn't ensberg playing? our lineup scores zero runs every time clemens pitches WITH HIM in the lineup... I'd rather half ensberg with half a wrist than our typical run """"""""SUPPORT"""""" of Clemens.. Jesus...
there it is... that's the ballgame with that double play right there... we might as well not send clemens out there.
The "weak links" of the lineup did their job while our two best players in the lineup accounted for all the outs. Wonderful. C'mon, Rocket!!!
I agree, besides Clemens probably has that same hanstring problem from a couple days ago, and like Ensberg they shouldn't make him suck it up in the middle of a WC race.. (is it working yet? )
Why?? I'm AGREEING with you. We probably wasted our best opportunity we'll have... its in their heads right now about Clemens, and there really is no distinct way out of it.
They're actually not that bad of a team... Davis is a quality pitcher, and Carlos Lee and Geoff Jenkins are probably just as good (if not better) than all of the Astros combinations of hitters.
alright the typical start pattern (if this is one) will go like this we get blanked through 5 and by the time the lineup wakes up, it's too late and clemens is out of the game having allowed maybe 1-2 runs once again through 6-7 innings if we can get some runs before the 5th, we might be good
Yea, but I just don't see how they, like the Pirates, give us fits like this. We always play down to them, and don't play like a team that will rep the NL WC. And as I type this Lane tells me to stop acting like the game is over..
I'll be damned... we're 2 runs away from me eating my words. and this is just a random fact but clemen's has 11 no decisions this year , and I beat 9 out of those 11 aren't even his fault. got that off of the "cy young" chart that espn news was posting the other day between carpenter, willis and clemens.
Well... we're 6-3 agains them this year, and overall they're just 2 games under .500... that's about where we should be against a team of that calibur. The Pirates are a streaky team... we made them look awful in a 4 game sweep at their place, and then they came up with the timely hits to take 2 out of 3 in our place. In the end... I'd still rather play those two teams (with the Reds) as many times as we do... instead of playing in either the NL West or East and facing those other teams the same amount.
If Roger doesn't have his good stuff why pitch him? Let the injury heal and get him back closer to 100% next time.
For whatever reason, the Brewers know how to hit Roger lately. It looks like their scouting report is to lay off the slider and splitter and just sit dead-red for the heater. Considering what they did against him last time and tonight's game, it seems like a good approach. This time of year, you've got to figure he's lost a little velocity and/or movement on the fastball....especially when your 40+.
