the last 6 games howard and wesley alston trade values are increasing howard has been 20-10 on 54% shooting the last 6 games wesley as much as many of us dont appreciate his game has been 17pts on 50% shooting from the field and from downtown he seems to have found his stroke alston has been playing very well and the others player have improved since his return A few games ago I was ready to give these guys away for other teams trash luckly nobody took them off our hands
These guys have heart and are not getting blown out...and are getting good minutes. There is a silver lining here.
My point of view as well, these guys have been leaving it all on the floor but sometimes you can only do so much. If anything, whenever our full roster returns our supporting cast should be more primed to contribute, always gonna look at the bright side.
When times are tough the tough get going. Juwan has got game and has put to rest in my mind who should be our feature PF. However, changes have to be made and JH is the most likely player to begin shaping a different team because he provides the most salary cap relief.
Trading JH would be officially tanking, but I wouldn't be surprised if Wesley is gone in February. What contender would want Juwan with his contract? Rafer isn't going anywhere.
as the losing continues for me and I watch the games I find man the "Rockets" have totally changed barley a recognizeable player out there most all have only played last season and this for us, Minus yao who is out and moochie who came back and forth. I dont want any trades because I like the players and would rather keep players for a long period of time and create a new (persay) "Houston Rockets" As we have lost we found out Howard can def. still bring we need to keep him keep stro keep tmac keep yao keep reefer yes not raefer, keep bowen one day when we get healthy he will be used the way he should . INjuries suck never did I see this season crumbling like now but please no trades the team is already barely the Rockets its more like the "Houston Journeymen"
Well, JH has shown that he can play in spite of the heart problem. So, maybe we will be able to dump him. He really has no future here. Maybe someone in a run can use the vet help on the bench. I hope our expiring contracts bring us something. They could be added to JH and then maybe we take back a player who's a little overpaid. So, we could offer a functional pair like Wesley and JH. We can help a team get rid of a contract, where they have a younger replacement waiting in the wings. Something like that for Troy Murphy would be great , but more likely it would be something like that for an Austin Croshere. Oh well. I'd still like to do Swift and Alston for Al Harrington, but Atlanta seems to be holding out. They do need a 4 and a 1, on the cheap. We'd have to trade for another pick to give up. Head is a keeper, I think. Unless someone offers something exceptional. Maybe Moochie can be traded for a second round pick. Swift and Alston have been duds, so if we can pad their stats and move them, great. I have a bad feeling they will stay, though. Maybe we will get around to admitting the mistake next year. Get Sura to retire now, go ahead and take the hit. If a Miami or Detroit will give a pick for Deke or JB, and they are willing to go win a trophy, let them go. They deserve it. The franchise has to move on. I guess that just leaves DA, Bowen, and fodder like Baxter. They are all expendable, for anything - expirings, future second round picks, whatever. We don't need to bring back anyone from this team besides Yao, Tmac and Head.
Not tanking but rebuilding, the Suns did it a few years ago on a more dramatic scale by dumping Marbury and Penny. Colangelo looked at that team and decided that this wasn't a team that could win a championship, JVG and CD must be thinking the same thing. Only difference between us and the Suns is we don't have trade assets like they did so CD is going to have to pull some rabbits out of a hat. I am hoping that this Spanoulis guy can play and wants to come to the NBA next year, we don't have any Euro talent on this team and I wonder why when so many teams have good Euro players. Also, we are the team with the fewest rookie contracts and we need to rebuild in part in the draft. Which is a reason that maybe we shouldn't rush T-Mac back and shut him down this year, that would definitely make us a lottery pick and teams need to pick in the top 5 this year to get an immediate impact player in the draft.
Yeah, you know I almost feel bad for Howard. If he didn't have to play 3rd fiddle on this team, he'd still be capable of putting up serious numbers. At least he's getting his time to shine now. Hopefully his confidence is building so when Yao & T-Mac return, he'll still play at this level (minus a good number of the opportunities).
Seriously, you people need to stop ragging on Rafer. Has anyone even noticed the fact that all the role players have been playing better since he returned? Repeat after me: Alston is NOT a dud. I'd trade Juwan Howard before I traded Alston right now. Yes, I meant that. Juwan is finding his game because he has a proper point guard setting him up. Same with Wesley...the guy was old, struggling and being forced into a PG role that he had never played all his life. Now that he has a real PG on the team he can do the stuff shooting guards do, like get open perimeter shots and drive to the hoop for easy layups. Why do you think T-Mac was averaging 35+ a game all of a sudden over five straight games before he went down? Because he finally had a PG to relieve him of ball-handling duties. Rafer is probably our MOST valuable player at this point. Not Juwan -- not even if he's averaging 25/10 a night. If only we'd had Alston since the start of the season, we wouldn't have tanked those 8 straight games when Yao was on the court...oh well.
I feel sorry for some of the older role players on this team. If they play poorly, some Rockets fans would say they are garbage and we should trade them for a few bags of potato chips. If they did play well for a few games, some other Rockets fans would say their trade value has gone up so trade them before it comes down again. No win situation for these players.
