    Succinct, intelligent, correct.

The Rockets are sooo bad at this point I might willing to go for a three on five arrangement; TMac, Ming, and Artest, trade or release the rest. A team of three. Heck, Francis used to go one on five. If the NBA will approve a team of three, go for it. ;)

    atlanta just makes sence.

harrington was there former 6th man of the year. he would fit right back into the system.

atlanta would want stro for sure. maybe even rafer.

    here is my suggestion:

ATL trades: harrington, delk (ending contract)
    ATL recieves: stro, rafer

obviously a very apealing trade for them.

    IND trades: ron, anthony johnson
IND recieves: harrington, delk, 2nd round pick from houston (via NYK), first round pick from houston (lotto protected in '06, unprotected in '07)

a nice backup plan for indy after backing out of the clipper deal. beinging al back is a good/safe bet. they get a couple of picks in the deal too.

HOU trades: stro, rafer, future first and second round picks
    HOU recieves: ron, johnson

our defense gets a huge boost while adding some offense.

Turning down Artest because you don't want to give Head? Want to lottery protect your draft pick? WTF?

Swift, Wesley, 2006 unprotected 1st rounder to Atlanta

    Al Harrington, Head to Indy

Ron Artest, Anthony Johnson to Houston

Meh. I feel that's too much to give up.

I'm not ready to give up on Swift just yet.

Can't do it. Rafer is our only distributor. You want AJ starting at the point for us down the stretch on a playoff run? I don't. We gotta give up Dwes, Head or somebody else. Head CANNOT run the point for us this year. He just isn't a good enough ball handler and distributor. Rafer is more important to this team with Artest and TMac on the perimeter.

The players of Ron Ron's caliber are out of the MLE range. Can't get them in the FA market, then get them through trades.

    Go for it!

This is been over and over again. Yao comes here, Champion. Tmac, champion, this year, champion, but the result shows disaster.

Honestly, that deal to me would be tempting for ATL and IND. Heck, IND would just be happy with Harrington alone, much less adding Head to the mix. If you include Head to Indy, then the Rockets would want Fred Jones instead of Anthony Johnson. And the Rockets protect the 1st rounder if it is in the top 2. If the Pacers want to move AJ, then move him to the Grizzlies for someone else since you guys could use a backup PG.

I agree that Indy would be estatic to get Harrington for Artest at this point. Take Head and Johnson out of the deal and tell me where to sign.

I'm sorry, but this team needs to punch someone in the mouth. Artest coming here is risky, no doubt, but we are much too soft to expect to win in this league. My theory is that if we could pull off this trade, and Sura comes back, we'd look like a completely different team. An edgey team. It didn't surprise me last year that as soon as Sura came back, everyone started playing more physical. I think the same would happen if Artest came here, and if Sura returned from injury.

I'm not ready to tank the season. With tough-nose defense, and a slight change of personell, we can still get to the playoffs this year.

    Ron Artest Derby- Likely contenders

I think there will be a maximum of 6-7 teams that would even be in a position ( because they have the talent Indy needs) or because they are strongly inclined to get the right package to the table.

    Teams with Talent

    Golden State
    LA Clippers
    Minnesota
    Atlanta
    New York

Teams who could be Strongly Inclined

    LA Lakers
    Houston
    Cleveland
    New Jersey

We know the LA CLippers deal is dead ( and maybe Golden state since they dont want to part with Ike Diogu)

The only way we are getting artest would be a multi-team deal or we are taking back a big contract from Indy

TO recap Indy's Stated goals for this trade

    1. Young talent that fits Indy
    2. Cap Space relief

It was pretty big mistake for Indy to take this public. You just dont negotiate again deadlines- but heck if we get Artest, I will take the chance. IF we get there and retain either Stro or Head- CD and his team deserve the kudos

anitasri what makes you think we have a shot at artest? I'm not being mean or anything i'm just asking because up until the last 2 or 3 days I had heard Houston wasn't interested in trading for him. Whats the latest then? Will we trade Anderson and WEsley and maybe through in Head to get him? Give me some feed back. Go Rockets!!!

Frankly I dont think we have a shot. But as others have expressed more eloquently- Artest for 2 years is something we should consider. Wesley and Moochie for Salary Cap relief is all we have that Indiana wants ( cap relief)- we need to find the young stud they want and for that we need a team like Atlanta to help us get what Indy is interested.

I think he may end up in LA or Minnesotta, unless we pry a stud from Atlanta for a First round pick!

I'd hate to see Luther Head traded, but that said, I'd give up anybody on our roster not named Yao or McGrady for Artest or a player of his caliber. I'm really surprised there are people reluctant to part with Stromile Swift, who has been largely disappointing.
