Didn't see this posted yet, but they were asking whose streak was more important ours or the spurs. JA Adande gave us credit, but mariotti was going on about the spurs and how we've only played 7 winning teams during the streak. I like how he neglected to say how the spurs have only beat two good teams in their streak. He also pointed out how they're holding their opponents to 41% shooting. Aren't we doing the same if not better? Plus they overlooked that most of the wins have been blow outs. It's funny because everyone is talking about how we can't beat NO, but don't think they realize we blew them out in New Orleans during this run. I know it shouldn't matter, but its annoying nonetheless.
it's funny how they overlooked our streak saying we only play SEVEN winning teams. and yet the spurs have only played TWO winning teams in their 11 game winning streak. 7/17 or 2/11 haters stay hating. but i'm glad yao suddenly becomes such a dominant impact player that they think houston lives and dies by him. it's great to see yao getting a ton of props now.
Calling Jay Mariotti a pompous loud-mouthed idiot would be understating the situation; severely. His opinion, even in the sports universe means nothing. That having been said, the Rockets haven't accomplished anything yet as this is still just the regular season and the Spurs are still the team to beat. I'm honestly amazed that Around the Horn is still on tv.
I agree that the spurs are the team to beat, but let's give credit where its due. I believe our streak is the more impressive due to blowouts, no Yao versus their full team and mostly its six more than they have.
good, they just jinxed the spurs. i'm calling it... the spurs will lose at denver tonight and end their streak. last time they did this to the lakers a week ago...
I absolutely agree. Regardless of the W/L record of the teams we have defeated they are still NBA teams at the end of the day. Couple that with the convincing fashion in which it was done and it's certainly something worth talking about. To paraphrase Shane from a few games ago, "It's something to be proud of..." No doubt.
Screw that...Spurs need to win so Denver can lose and the Rockets can have more breathing room with the 9th seed. How many teams have had 11 game win streaks and how many have had 17 or more...that should tell you right there which is more impressive.
We won't get anything even we beat NO with the lineup of Brooks/Novak/Green/Jones/Head, I'm telling you. "This isn't American Idol", well said Shane.
man, "breathing room" isn't that important to us any more, compared to a month ago. i mean is there any more doubt we're headed to the playoffs? we're virtually #4 now and are closer to #1 than to the bottom...
Ugh, Wilbon just compared us to the Buffalo Bills on PTI. Saying that we always lose in the first round. Always? 2 times is always?
notice how they said 10 of our last 15 games are on the road and that could doom us, and yet they haven't noticed our 11 game road winning streak. i'm fine with their opinions, but PLEASE, get your facts straight to support those opinions.
We don't need credit and we don't need to fish around for props,The team get's relaxed when we start to get acknowleged, We just need to keep winning and stay humble and everything will just take care of it's self. We need to ignore the media and keep that edge of us against the world, forget looking for PROPS.
They know the Rockets like how we know the rest of the league; they paint with a really broad brush unless it's the team they actually write for IMO.
People need to chill out about ESPN and TNT and what they're saying about the Rockets. It's pretty obvious they never watch this team. They still think we're the Van Gundy era Rockets who are Yao and T-Mac and a bunch of scrubs. Besides, it's obvious that part of what's driving this streak is the complete lack of respect the players are getting for their accomplishment. Let them continue to feed off of that.
The Spurs are THE TEAM in the playoffs until someone knocks them off but the Rockets are playing better ball right now. No denying that.
