For those of you interested, Army of Anyone, the latest 'supergroup' featuring Richard Patrick from Filter, the DeLeo Bros from STP, and Ray Luzier from somewhere, have their first single online which can be found here.

Kinda dissappointing for me. The DeLeo Bros sound as awesome as ever and Ray Luzier does more than his share on the drums but Patrick just doesn't seem to be able to keep up. Makes me wonder how this would have sounded with Weiland.

I don't think any dude from Filter and anyone not named Scott Weiland from STP is really a supergroup. But that's just me and I'm about as far from being a music snob as you get.

not bad, but not good either. mb, i was thinking about weiland too. only heard the one tune posted above, but that one song isn't velvet revolver or audioslave quality. still interested in hearing the rest of the album though.

really... filter was ok, but getting patrick from filter would be the equivalent of getting brett from fuel. not enough soul in his voice.

Its not Audioslave or VR quality, which IMHO is why at least this initial single is so dissappointing as I beleive AoA, excepting Patrick, boasts a superior lineup of musicians (of course, my own subjective view).

Patrick's voice is a poor fit for the group -- he's more industrial, heavy rock voice while the DeLeos are more of a pop, classic rock oriented pair. In the end. I get the feeling this project will make me wish (more) that STP was still together.

i agree. i still jam stp today.

when i think of industrial, i think of nin or orgy (whose first album was a classic... the sophomore and the one after disappointed). probably not fair to put them against those two, but if "army one one" wants to be a supergroup, then the lead has to have some sort of a reputation. again, filter was pretty good, but they're still too new to fit in... in this ONE song of course. i'll still check out the rest of the album later though.

VH1 is streaming the full album (which is out on the 14th) on their site. The rest of the album is much better than "Goodbye" (which has grown on me). I didn't think Patrick would be able to keep up but this is probably the best his voice has ever sounded.

All in all, blows VR out of the water.

Check it out: Army of Anyone on VH1

Of the three songs listed on their Myspace page- the song "Disappear" has the most vocal range that is usually associated with Patrick. The other songs just seem like generic rock.
