For a doomsday scenario I would go with a Remington 870 XCS Marine Magnum with a riot shotgun shell bag, Glock sidearm and maybe some sort of battle rifle set up for long range like an AR-15 or a Galil. I would also rush the rockets and get the oversheild.

for $1K, best bet is a LMT. their quality is second only to colt's. its often cheaper to buy the upper and lower assembly separately as gun manufactures are charged a fee for a fully assembled gun. the brand of the lower does not matter as much, for example, bushmaster lower would be fine, however, the upper should be at least a LMT, with a properly staked bolt carrier group. good luck!

A Rem Marine model? You do realize it's shiny silver anodized... Sure buy that if you want to stand out with your bright shiny gun and get raped.

I used to own an RRA & a Bushie. The Bushmaster was a far better build and not much more expensive. That said, there's nothing inherently wrong with the RRA, DPMS makes a good rifle too.

For a SHTF event, I think you need a pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun combo (or just one) in build quality to be reliable and in caliber to find ammo easily (military or police standard).

    So then a 9mm/.40 cal pistol. A .357/.38 revolver. A 12 gauge shotgun. A .308/5.56mm rilfe.

P.S. if its zombies that you fear just buy a .22 rifle with a high cap mag and a few thousand rounds & aim at the Zeds' heads.

That and read World War Z to prepare.

yeah i have heard of both brands, they are OK if you are mainly using them for plinking and such. the reason i recommended LMT is because their quality is truly amazing for the price. Colts are overrated, but thats not to say they arn't good, they make excellent ar-15s, especially the 6920 model, however, its overpriced for what it is (retail around $1400). rock river is a decent brand, but for that $950, you are much much better off with a LMT, an actual battle ready and reliable rifle.

if you want the absolute best, i believe the HK 416 is the best. it uses a different gas system than current ar-10/15 m4/16 rifles..however, i do not believe its available as an assembled gun as of yet (only upper assembly released last time i checked), and it will cost you a fortune just for that upper.

Dude, when "Clover" comes from the depths to attack, it won't matter if add an H-bomb to your "arsenal."

    Why bother?

I started a thread about doomsday paranoia.

I'm not anti-gun in general, but I personally wouldn't have ever owned one...but it DOES sound plausible that I'd need one for some kind of doomsday situation...

Having a machine gun blowing away zombies would be rad. Except for the zombies part I guess.

Check out Rock River Arms. Good prices and very good quality. I'd trust them over olympic, bushmaster, etc and have heard the same from others.

here what I plan on using... the FN tactical kicks like a byatch. I love my Spas12. esp after I upgraded the trigger mechanism. I had police officers at the range ask to shoot it after they saw me hook the folder behind my elbow and empty the shotty with 1 arm. Pump once.. then empty as fast as you can pull the trigger. :D Too bad these area hard to find parts for nowadays.

I have a DE 44. and one modified to take 454 Cassull incase those don't work. and when you have to clear everyone out of the mf room. Accept no substitutes.. Bulgarian and Hungarian AK47's w/ 75rd drums. Gotta love the blonde wood stocks. :)

and yes.. I am originally from Texas. heh

now all I got to do is find a H1 w/ snorkel and gun mounts

I use the M4 Carbine with the ACOG scope. I recently picked up a Gold Desert Eagle as well. I was thinking of upgrading my M4 by "double-tapping" it and using those "deep impact" bullets. I bought a "bandolier" of extra magazines. No people are going to mess with me.

If you know what I am talking about, you are as nerdy as me.
