Glad to hear this. Competitors will be forced to raise their game to succeed in this category and that's good for everyone. I'm rooting for Android and Chrome devices to also be very successful and push Apple to make big improvements in v.2 to stay ahead.

I hope you and others who actually have iPads continue to keep us updated with your experiences here. It will be informative and help drown out the tiresome "fanboy" vs. "hater" nonsense that spews out every time Apple products are discussed here.

If I was calling you a b**** then I would have wrote:

    I own the devil, b****.

Grammar can be very important in these cases.

I agree that grammar can be very important in cases like these. So, tell me, what did your original post (the one that lacked a comma) mean? Enlighten me on what I failed to see.

Man, lots of positive professional reviews and user impressions out there. I'm really impressed that it seems the battery life wasn't BS by Apple. One of the reviews said they ran movies on it continuosly for nearly 12 hours.

It's probably a good thing I didn't set aside any money for this thing. My resolve would probably slip at this point. Lol

This is how the iPhone reviews started (the 3G iPhone) when it came out.... and then a month later, the problems arose from users. I'm hoping Apple does the same with the new iPhone... I need a phone that can last past 5 hours.

I hope you're not saying you own one after writing all those negative comments...

Imax 3d version? That is so 2015... I'm waiting for the 3d Imax Pico Projector, 5G Wireless (300 MB+), USB 6.0, 50MP camera, 2160P (That's right 1080P is not high def enough for me), 20.1 surround sound, 50 Terabyte on a MicroSD, Plus makes Belgian waffles... Ok ok Maybe the waffles are a bit of a strech.

To make sure I don't confuse people, I don't own the iPad yet. I will almost certainly be getting one when they're available on the Employee Purchase Store (pay full price when I have a discount? Ha!).

But I will be using them on a daily basis.

Well, that solves another mystery for me.

I always chat up the apple store guys when I'm there, nice folk, and inevitably I hear them grousing about how they can't buy products when they're first released, and they're miffed that they don't get a discount.

But now I guess I know they just mean on intial release.

My wife and I were scoping out e-readers and net books when rumors of this thing picked up. So we held off and upon release each bought one. So far it has been a joy to use. We both love it. After a while, the novelty of the touch screen wore off and we just found ourselves focused on specific tasks.

Using iWork is pretty straight forward. Not at home this weekend so I have no idea of the challenges printing over network might present. But I already know that this is replacing may laptop. The thing is so light. And really, i can perform all my productive tasks on it with ease. Bummer that I can't code on it, so that is one hobby that is will be restricted to my desktop. But I am going to rely on this for dissertation work and research activities in addition to just screwing around.

Not having flash is no big deal for me. It sucks not being able to watch the Daily Show, Colbert, or South Park. On the other hand, using the Netflix app is a great experience.

I don't get the feeling that I am missing parts of the Internet. It's just, IMO, a different, better experience. Will funnel magazine subscriptions through this.

My wife is even more enamored than I am. She is mostly using it for e-reading magazines and a book. But she is very satisfied. No buyers remorse.

Edit: This thing makes me wish I still held AAPL. Gonna have to see about resolving that.

For most products, yes. The iPhone is an exception -- AT&T controls the pricing. If we were to get our normal discount, it would be off the full retail price of the iPhone... AT&T's pricing is way better.

I wouldn't mind having an iPad as an e-reader for my magazine subscriptions. The only drawback is that the subscriptions for the actual magazines are cheaper than their e-magazine counterpart. An issue of GQ is like 2.99 while a year subscription is only 10 bucks. If/when the pricing on e-magazine subscription matches the paper version, I'm down to get an iPad.

I played with one for about 10 minutes yesterday morning. I LOVE it. Saying it's just an oversized Itouch is lazy reporting.

If it had a USB port I would replace my laptop(which is my only computer) immediately but it doesn't and I don't have the $500 to throw around on something useful but ultimately unnecessary.

This is a convenience for people who have the expendable income or for someone in the market for a laptop/netbook but already have a desktop. If you just want something mobile and already have a main pc, I'd highly recommended playing with one of these before ripping it.
