I'm really glad the rest of the world accepts the apologies of Americans for the outcome of our own elections. Honestly, why again do I need to care what the rest of the world thinks? (Not aimed at you gifford)

Because America isn't the only country on this planet. We just think we are.

We could *REALLY* use some help in Iraq, but because we've taken a dump in the global punchbowl, we're all alone.

America wants all the benefits of a "global economy," but none of the responsibilities.

Because we live with these people. Its the golden rule man, stuff you learned when you were a kid. Treat others how you want to be treated. We should care what the world thinks because we want them to care about what we think. We arent any better than anyone else and they deserve just as much as we do. We are incredibly powerful and should use it responsibly.

I honestly do not understand why I come in here.

I'm not saying I WANT to piss off other countries. what I'm saying is that if I decide I want to go do something, I don't have to ask my sisters for PERMISSION to go. But this was our election, why are WE apologizing to other countries for what we as a country thought was the best decision for us.

You guys want us to care about what the world wants, but it doesn't seem like they give us the same favors. Kinda hypocritical don't you think? Just because Europe thinks one way doesn't make it correct and the same goes for the US. But you guys act like we should care about how the world views us. We shouldn't intentionally piss people off, but we should do what we feel is right whether or not people agree.

    That's fine.

Just don't be upset when your sisters don't attend your funeral.

To complete your analogy, you must first punch your sister in the nose and then ask for permission. Some of us here are more concerned with the punch than the need for permission.

It's the Iraqis that really need the help.

None of the responsibilities? You have got to be kidding...

By "responsibilities" are you saying we should include the rest of the world in our elections?

Call me whatever you want but I just don't think we need to apologize to the rest of the world for having an election.

Gotta agree with that. I didn't like the outcome...but i guess that's the risk in holding open elections.

come on now, nobody was apologizing for having an election. kerry supporters/bush haters were saying they were sorry that there efforts in the election weren't enough to oust bush, something that the majority of the world's voters would have done decisively.

The only ones who should apologize are the ones who didn't vote. If you voted (and especially if you worked on a campaign), and your guy lost, there's nothing to apologize for...

I find all this to be absolutely hilarious! Absolutely a riot! As I said earlier, more Americans voted for George W. Bush than any other presidential candidate in our history! America has spoken!

But why should we apologize for electing a president simply because the rest of the world doesn't like him? Our decisions should be made by us and not be influenced by the rest of the world.

What makes you think the rest of the world didn't influence our election? One could argue that Bush was re-elected to keep us "safe" from the rest of the world. Seems like influence to me.

One could also argue that Kerry voters voted for Kerry because osama bin laden told them not to vote for Bush.
