I'll cut to the chase- I'm young and growing bald. My old man has more hair than me and it's pretty frustrating. I'm not depressed about it and it hasn't affected me yet at all. I don't think it ever will either! But should a young man (early 20's) really have to suffer like this? And when I say bald I'm not referring to gradual thinning hair either, I'm talking about absolutely no hair on my head at all! I started using the big 3 - Propecia, Nizoral, and Minoxidil and am hoping for some results. Not for my sake, but simply because it seems like everyone else around me is bothered by it. I should just tell them to go to hell and worry about the more important things in life...
Yeah. It's an anti-androgen except of course, it's a shampoo. If you've ever used Rogaine then you know that your scalp starts to become flaky, itchy, and very irritable. This actually stops the scalp itch. Some have even claimed that by using this alone hair has grown back. There are no side effects and it's actually part of the Big 3 regimen. I just started a week ago and am pretty optimistic that I will see some results in about 12-15 months!
If you’re bald you’re bald. There is not much you can do about it. Don’t waste your money with all those chemicals because they don’t work. When I started to go bald I just shaved my head and grew a goatee. At the time I was hitting the weights pretty hard and a lot of people thought I looked like the wrestler Goldberg. After I shaved my head, I was surprised by the amount of women that wanted to touch my head. Anyway, being bald isn’t that bad. In fact, I kind of prefer it to having long hair, especially living in Houston with the heat. Better get used to the bald jokes. People love to tell bald jokes. I hear at least one joke every day from my kids, but it’s all in good fun. I usually tell people that you never see animals with bald heads and that if they believe in evolution, that bald people are more evolved. I will also tell them that grass doesn’t grow on a busy pasture.
I started loosing my hair at 14. It bothered me for years, but then I just accepted it. The key is getting an electric hair clipper so you can keep your hair real short. The shorter the better. I tried shaving, but it's a pain to maintain every day.
I'll let you in on a little secret that has been in my family for generations. Basically what we have done for many years is that we massage our scalp and forehead area for at least five minutes a day, everday. This in theory helps stimulate the hair follicles. My grandfather didn't start losing hair until his 75th birthday. I continue doing it even though it gets a bit cumbersome, but the reward is immeasurable.
Maybe you're using too much hair products? I own a friend (haha I like saying that) that had thick annoying hair, but he uses like 2 lbs of gel everyday, no exaggeration! Then in a couple of years his hair started getting thin, receding hairline, and that nice round shiny spot at the back of the head. He says that it's from all the hair products he uses (because apparently he's such a girl). I'm not sure I believe that reasoning too much, but thought I'd throw it out there..
My hair started thinning shortly after my 22nd birthday. I held out for about 3 years before I started shaving it. I'd rather look like Lex Luthor than Nick Cage in Adaptation.
My hair is thinning in the back and uptop. I'm sure when people look down they can see a lot of scalp. I've heard about the scalp massaging, but I'm just too damn lazy to keep doing that. I've been trying to do it when I shampoo, I hope I can fight this off until a miracle cure is developed. Enough time has already been wasted on treating ED, it's time to ramp up the efforts to fight baldness.
Drinking helps. Seriously, every balding guy I knew stopped drinking. Every person I hangout with has hair. While some may look at it as coincidental, I don't. Drinking alcohol helps the folicles for whatever reason. Look at DWI photos for further proof. Just drink and be merry. That's what Jesus asked us for in the first place. Just make sure and take a cab home. Jesus didn't know about driving. And yet, I'm sure their were plenty of good apostle black-out stories.. I"m looking forward to hearing that ****.
Just shave it off. I have had a shaved head by choice(or bald by choice whichever you prefer) for a little over 5 weeks now, and I will never go back to hair. And I could grow back my hair in a heartbeat if I wanted. It makes me look more mature/older and flat out better. A shaved head brings out your smile and your eyes, which is great for pretty much anyone. My camera phone has been used more in these weeks than the rest of my life combined. Also, I have yet to see a shaved head that looks horrible. Maybe if you look like an alien or something, but for the most part it makes people look better in my opinion. Plus why waste money on a hairpiece that everyone knows you are balding. Just accept it, be yourself and people won't care. It's only when you are insecure about it that they rub it in. Also, the maintenance on a shaved head/bald head is easy. You first use clippers on a zero guard to shave all the remaining hair. Then you get either a nice disaposable razor(people like the mach 3 or gillette fusion) and buy a nice shaving gel(I use king of shaves-excellent imho). Put warm water on the remaining stubble and then the gel. Let the gel set for 2-4 minutes. I suggest gel because cream makes it hard to see the areas you have missed. Then go to work. After the initial shave, you don't have to grow through the clipper part again. Most shave every couple of days, but my stubble comes back within a day, so i'm more of a daily shaver if in the mood. However, I recommend buying a nice wet/dry shaver or the headblade because you don't have to replace parts as often, and in my case, the razors didn't get certain spots and I would cut myself. So I bought the norelco cool skin shaver for 95 bucks at target a couple weeks in after trying razors and I use the king of shaves gel with it. Only thing about that shaver is the 8 hour charge time. But just charge it when you go to sleep and use in the morning. Also, shave in the shower(though with a disaposable i'd suggest the sink to start with). Go by feel. Another reason gel is better than cream: let's say you've shaved part way. Put a small amount of gel on, and how easy it goes on will tell you what is smooth, what isn't. As will feeling with your fingers. Easy cleanup, and the warm water(makes hair easy to cut) helps the shave go smoother/quicker. You also will need a good preferably alcohol free after shave because that helps any razor burn/irritation. Alcohol will sting. Then if you want to eliminate the two tone look of head to skin, either self tan outside in the sun, or go to a tanning salon and use their beds. I find it much easier/safer to use the beds for two reasons: one I don't want to spend 2 hours lounging outside daily to tan. And two, for someone who had no experience tanning prior to a few weeks ago, the people at the salon have to pass a test on tanning and what the rays do to your body. Plus it's very relaxing. Also, if living in cold weather, get nice hats. And in the summer treat your head like you would your skin(ie it will burn/use sunscreen). Lastly, here are some good sites that have excellent info on head shaving: http://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php (of which I am a member and the best of the bunch imho, biased of course) http://www.baldrus.com/ http://www.headshaver.org/ (great resource site) If you need anymore info, feel free to email me at davidv2001@yahoo.com.
crap...i sure hope not. hair gel is a staple diet for my head. i am almost 30 though, and still a full head of hair. but i do have a widow's peak.
Not going bald and shave my head anyways. You suckers go on pay 20-50 bucks a month for a hair cut, spend time "fixing" it in the morning. I'll do it for free every Saturday, and "style" it with a towel in 2 sec.
