Anyone from Portland, need beer bar advice? I need some beer bar recommendations. I'm going to check out the Horse Brass and Higgins, anywhere else I should go?
I have been to Thatch Tiki Bar 2733 NE Broadway St, Portland and a funky, old, mellow strip club called: Union Jack's 938 e. Burnside St. Portland, OR 97214 (Dave Attell went there for his Insomniac show) I have been to some others but dont remember the names.
Higgins is more of a fine dine restaurant than a bar. The food there is really fresh and good. As for a beer bar I recommend Henry's 12th street tavern. It's right off 12th and Burnside in NW Portland. They have tons of beers on tap and good eye candy. Henry's is right near the Pearl district area. So you are close to tons of bars. Just walk around and explore but make sure you check out Henry's. You want to stay away from SE and NE Portland area. Those spots aren't really happening. Stay in NW 23rd area or Pearl District area.
Right, I meant Henry's on 12th and Burnside (across from Whole Foods). Problem is that it closes at midnight, at which point you need to find another bar in the Pearl, or go to McFadden's or Dixie Tavern. Another cool spot outside Portland is the McMenamin's out in Troutdale. It's got a 21-hole pitch and putt course.
