Long story short, my wife got a job there and I am going with her. Anyone know if I can go there as an American tourist (visa free 90 days) and then apply visa as her dependent? I don't really want to wait the 6 or 8 weeks visa processing time in the US before I can go. Thanks.
I'm from HK but we tend not to know the intricate details of Hong Kong immigration policy for dependent of Americans....but since I'm nice: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/id991.htm
This is awesome! You will love it there. I can't wait to get back there. You should be able to get a visa through her employer, they should handle all that.
I'd be willing to bet everything in my bank account that you have never been to China or anywhere in Asia for that matter, yet you are making comments about it.
Thanks for all the information guys. I guess I am more interested to know whether I can apply the visa after arriving HK as a tourist. I know I can get the visa as a dependent for sure, but don't want the 6 to 8 weeks processing time in US. Thanks.
Ah alright I see, that's a pretty specific request. If I were in Hong Kong I could actually ask my neighbours but unfortunately I'm not. Best bet would be to send them an email (but phrase it simply we're not that good at English, something like 'Do I have to apply for visa as dependent in Hong Kong or America?' )
HK is the NY of China....With great CHEAP food everywhere, beautiful bay area scenery, and hi tech sky scrapers....What a bleeping duma$$ comment.
Man be careful out there! Every now and then a giant dinosaur like creature rises fromt the depths of the ocean and totally makes traffic a headache!
Cool. Just being careful, it's probably allowed anyway. I will try to email them or something. Been to HK before. Good eating, hot summer, and people everywhere!
lots of ladies there too, from ALL OVER THE WORLD. I met a few super hot russian women there. Very nice.
Is your wife chinese? What kind of job did she get there? I've always wonder how would you apply and get a job in Taiwan/HK, and get US salary. Last I checked, there average salary was 18K.
