I was thinking about getting one and noticed a thread hasn't been started in 6 years. There were mixed reviews in the last thread so I am following up to see if there are any new owners and possibly how previous and current owners feel about the machines.

    Any good? Pros/Cons?

be sure to do the ciggarrette test from BreakingBad. I've been meaning to get a roomba just to verify it.

I have the pet series roomba and I love it. We have a white Akita/Husky type dog that sheds like crazy. I have the roomba set to run automatically every night in our living room and it does a good job of keeping the hair in check. I still use the regular vacuum every few weeks but it is a great helper. Just make sure to empty it out daily and keep the brushes clean, I would definitely recommend it.

they're decent. my has one, which she got years ago. obviously with everything over time, they get smaller and more efficient, but it does a decent job.

i don't think they do as good as job as a real vacuum cleaner, but that's just me being anal (no homo).

great if you have pets around that shed, just make sure they don't tear it up.

I'd go with a neato or a roomba. I've never seen the Roomba in action, but the neato works well.

I've had one for a while. At some point you have to pull the thing apart and clean the hair that wraps around the rollers, but it isn't too much trouble. Also a spring popped out of one of the shocks on mine and now it kind of sits lop-sided...but stills seems to pick up pretty well. I would recommend it.

A Roomba is a robot vacuum, not that little plastic vibraty-thingee that your mom keeps under some magazines in the second drawer of the bedside table.

Roomba is particularly awesome if you have pets. Worth every penny.

It works. I wish it was more quiet. And, being dumb, it takes quite a while to get the job done -- but then it doesn't get paid by the hour either.
