If the trade between Detroit and Denver finalizes, how about going after McDyess. He has the size, athleticism, experience and can be used against teams we need a big PF off the bench. We really need size and though it probably will not happen, I believe, especially come playoff time, we need size to get some blocks and some1 who throws it down with no chance of getting blocked by some chumps like Scola, Landry & Hayes get blocked.

Discuss wether you like the thought of having McDyess on our team and how you would be willing to give up. As much as I like what Hayes brings to the table, we already have 2 small PFs and Artest / Battier can guard PFs when needed. Head is also an assett we can maybe use in a trade like this.

We don't need more pf's, if anything we need a backup center who plays mad defense.

You think McDyess is significantly bigger than Landry and Scola?

Why wouldn't Denver want to keep him?

and why wouldn't we have gone for him already? why do we need to wait for a trade with Denver to finalize to go after him?

Significantly bigger than Hayes, a guy who's a good shot blocker but indeed old and not really that athletic anymore. Maybe i'm just dreaming about the guy he used to be :)
Also as we've witnessed in the first three games and all of last year, we need a big guy in there at the PF spot, maybe even besides Mutombo. One big guy is great, two would be fantastic !!

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we try to get him once already and because we couldn't we got Pippen instead? Lets please not go down that particular trip to memory lane please. We failed to get a young McDyess, no point in trying to get an old, broken down one.

yeah he's not the true 7 footer you guys crave for but he's a great backup for a veteran team

he can play center as long as its not against the Dwight or Shaqs of the world

has a nice face up game, he's kinda like the older bigger version of Landry

If he gets bought out from the Nuggets and comes cheap then if I was Morey I'd take a gander and call his agent

it would prolly mean we won't sign Deke however, unless we can get rid of Francis and Head

    McDyess? Noooooooo
    Its all about AI!!!!!!!!!!!
Think about it, the only reason Detroit traded AI is because he is on his last year of contract. There is no way Detroit is gona sign him after this season, if he doesn't get trade in mid season, he will become a free agent.
And, if Rockets come close to championship this season, there will always a chance we can sign AI at a very low price to give him a shot at title, right?!?! ;)

Defensive rebounding and interior defense is the important thing for me, if we're looking to add another big. When Yao isn't in the game, our smallish front court has struggled securing the defensive boards.

Exactly, McDyess brings neither to the team.

We need someone who could contest other 7ft players when going for rebounds. He's no longer athletic. He's a jumpshooter now. We have Scola and Landry who could knock down those same shots and both are younger, better defenders, and more athletic.

True, but it is worth the thought imo and to the guy who said why wait for the AI trade to go through? Because McDyess is already 34 and wants to play for a contender, Denver is definetly not a contender. I thought he would be bigger than 6'9 because he's a big dude, broad shoulders and long arms. I wouldn't having him & Deke on our roster come play-off time, even if that means giving up Francis, Head, Wafer & Hayes.

you do remember that Yao will play most of the game against those type of teams right? and McDyess is not exactly a defensive stiff or a softie either, he plays tough

so that's 3 teams that you're scared of because McDyess isn't as big as them, and I know McDyess can hold his own against Bynum, Shaq isn't dominant anymore and Dwight is in the East

We already stole Artest from the Kings for Donte Greene. Have some pity on them.

There is a good chance McDyess will be bought out by Denver and he'll go back to the Pistons. I think they need to implement a rule to prevent this type of thing.

I think he said he only wants to play for the Pistons at this point in his career.
