J.K. Rowling Says Another 'Potter' Character to Die "Harry Potter (news - web sites)" author J.K. Rowling (news - web sites) said Friday that one of her characters will not survive the next book in her series about the young wizard. Asked on her official Web site whether she planned to kill off any more characters, Rowling replied, "Yes, sorry." But she refused to identify that character. The sixth book in the series, "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince," is due to be published next year. Potter himself is safe, at least for now. Rowling has previously said her teenage hero will survive until the seventh and final book in the series, but has refused to say whether he will reach adulthood. "You have to wait and see whether he survives to be a grown-up," Rowling said in August. The 39-year-old author keeps the plots of her novels tightly under wraps, teasing fans with morsels of information. Before the publication of her last installment, "Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix," she said a major character would die. Readers had to wait until the book appeared last year to discover the victim was Harry's mentor, Sirius Black.
Sirius dies? Way to spoil it, stupid article. I'm kidding, I don't read the books, but I have been watching the movies in the last year.
i read al the books last week( ok only 3) i like it alot, it are good books. I do not like it that another has to die. SPOILER i hope it is not dumbledorf.i liked that character. but i do not know wich one it will be then. Also Lupos(is that is name in english?the friend of sirius) should stay alive i liked him also.
I think DD will die at the end of the books and Harry will become the new head wizard of Hogwarts. I have a hunch that Neville kets killed in Half-Blood.
No sh*t. I don't think that anyone who read the books expects all of the characters to make it through alive...
Hopefully the next book will be better than Order of the Phoenix. I don't know, i just felt like it became too much like the overused classic fantasy story, like LOTR and star wars. My favorite book was the Goblet of Fire. It was the most entertaining for me.
Maybe one of the Weasly twins dies. They are always getting into trouble and are recognizeable characters who, if one was killed, would have an effect on all the main characters.
Book 4, "Goblet of Fire" was most definitely the best in the series, by far. I'm betting Dumbledore's gonna be the main character to die. I mean, come on, he's old.
I could see her killing off Dumbledore...but I don't want it to happen because of the way he is portrayed in the books. The movies seem to take a slightly different approach. In the later books, when Dumbledore finally breaks out the wand to do some battle, he's a ****ing badass. The way the books make him out, it would be highly difficult for someone to do Dumbledore in. I'm with whoever it was that said it would be Neville. That little plot element would fit in nicely with the "prophecy" as well, I think.
Maybe JKR should just bite the bullet and off one of the "Big 3." That way the other two can stop beating around the bush and start screwing already.
Yeah, but what if it was Hermione. I dont know about you but I dont want to see Harry and Ron bumping uglies.
Ill go with either Ron or Hagrid. She is just now pulling Neville into the fray as a main character, and considering the prophecy...I think he still has a major part to play. Dumbledore is just too powerful to get killed, and Harry and Hermione are too smart and skilled to die quickly...Ron seems to survive based on having people around to save his dumb butt when he screws up.
I really didn't like "The Order of the Phoenix". It dragged too much. Looks to me that Rowling has lost some of her touches. New-found riches can do that to you. I think that I read somewhere that Potter is going to live through the end of the series. I also remember reading about a casino's odds on who's gonna die next. Hagrid, Snape, and Dumbledore were the leading candidates. Although I hated the last book, I will read the next two just to know the ending. Does anyone know when Book 6 is coming out?
TOP kind of sucked because Hogawarts was basically shut-down. There was nothing fun about the book. The atmosphere was depressing, but dark times are necessary for a heroic epic.
Actually you'd be surprised at how many females enjoy the idea of two men going at each other. It's just much less overt and lowkey than guys drooling over lesbians, but it does exist: http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2001/11/18/IN92578.DTL But you're right, I wouldn't want to see it either. Although I don't even know why I replied at all. I'm not even a HP fanatic. I've only seen the first movie and that's it. I guess I just like to read myself talk.
