I told a friend of mine that I wanted to watch the Rockets next season. Time Warner and Direct TV offer League Pass while Dish Network does not. He told me that I would not need League Pass to watch the Rockets on a dish because I could give my parents Houston address to receive the Houston Fox Sports Net feed. The only team I want to see is the Rockets. He also told me that I could see other NBA games via FSN regional networks offered on the dish. This is a great deal for a college student like myself. Free dish, free install kit (I could not get professional installation), no contract and $5 a month to watch the Rockets. The only downside is I could not order PPV because I would not have a connected phone line. Will this actually work? Has anyone done this/do this? If this is illegal please let me know. I don't want to get in trouble. ------------------
I have Dish Network, I live in Dallas, have a Dallas address, I can't get DirecTV and just about every game I want to watch on one of the Fox Sports channels is always blacked out. Freakin' waste of money for me. Bastids. Based upon customer service, I also will never ever ever never ever sign up with Dish Network again. All the customer support doofuses I had the "privilege" of being in contact with were dolts. Oh, and where do you live, Smokey? And don't say "in the woods". ------------------ "Now it is more clear that it doesn't make sense." -- HeyPeeism at its convoluted best.
Oh man DoD. I was gonna go with Dish Network. Dish Network charges a $20 yearly fee for RV users. RV users can then receive PPV and their home address programming. I live in Austin (its hella expensive). Direct TV is strict. They need your vehicle registration info before they can send you mobile programming http://www.directv.com/howtoget/howtogetpages/0,1076,303,00.html Dish Network is more relaxed on this: Thank you for visiting our web Site. Effective Thursday, June 17 1999, DISH Network launched a PPV option for RV owners and other customers who do not have access to a phone jack to plug in their DISH receivers. The purpose of this option is to allow these customers to order PPV without having a phone line plugged into their systems on a permanent basis. Here is how it works: * Cost to take advantage of this option is $20.00 per year. (Description - MOBILE) * No monthly subscription is available * The annual renewal is automatic unless a customer calls to cancel the subscription * The subscription may be canceled during the year with no downgrade fee. However, no portion will apply toward the annual cost. This option is only available for one receiver on the account. You must choose whether they want it on their primary or their secondary receiver. Please note that standard PPV charges for each event ordered will apply. Also note that when the receiver reaches the credit limit, you will have to connect the receiver to a phone and download the PPV purchases on the smartcard. Thank you again for choosing Dish Network [This message has been edited by Smokey (edited June 12, 2001).]
This is not true. All FSN games are blacked out unless you have League Pass (or the team is in your region) ------------------ One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.
I, second that bob. The games are *listed* on the program guide, but like bob said, you must have league pass to access them... I have DirecTV and I do get home games, away games I need an antenna, and of course I get TNT, TBS and NBC games... but as far as the other FSN NBA games...no dice... unless you have the league pass. good luck rH ------------------ visit: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! visit: groovehouse.org
