I second that! No way is SA a max salary player. At the very most he should get $6 mil per year....and that is stretching it. He is talented and brings some good things to the court, but is not a dominant player. Like Dakota said, how the team does will determine his and Mo's salaries next season. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
No way Mo deserves max next year, even if he has the best year of his career. If we do give him the max, we will just leave ourselves in a pretty bad position for our other players. (shandon, francis, ..) I LOVE the fact that he his here in H-Town. Anything that make the team better is always a BIG +. I just hope we don't get into a situation were Mo demands the ball so much that it pisses off players like francis. Since, Mo has made it clear he is here to showcase his talent, and not actually here to try to win. I always hope for the best! We will see... ------------------ Rocket2000...A year to remember.
If we can loose Walt for a Defensive small forward, a really good defensive SF, then we won't have any problems........The only three scorers would then be MO, Francis, Cuttino, and Shandon to a lesser extent....and Cuttino would be coming off the bench, so there would be enough rock to pass aroun....we'd be a better defnsive team, as we would then have Shandon, Cato, and "X" all playing "D"......This year, I think Francis should be our number one scorer, then MO, then Walt.....Cuttino's off the bench.....With 2 of our 4 picks, we should pick up a SF (possible Battier or Morris) and a back-up Center...... Rebuilding is ALMOST over......but not until we're at least average defnsively, and two players deep at each position..... ------------------

MoDunks, Providing Shandon does play out the option year in his contract, other player salaries have no bearing on what we can pay him, or Steve. They will both be Bird eligible players after 3 years with the same club, and as such, we can sign them up to the maximum contract no matter what our payroll is. Of course, you may have been referring to the luxury tax, in which case being a long way over the cap means you get taxed more, which may influence Les's desire to sign other players, but I doubt it. ------------------ Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
DaDakota- Kenny will ALWAYS be 6'7''. He'll never grow again. Poor him. If he was 3 inches taller he may have had the chance to become a starting quality PF. (Sorry, just piling on KT.) But, I'm not too afraid of who's chasing Mo. Chicago won't get him, that's for sure, Dallas has Etan Thomas, Donnell Harvey, Gary Trent, and maybe Laettner as well. Why would they want him? (getting a top 5 player like CWebb is a different case). And Detroit and Falk aren't on the greatest terms, so they'd have to offer him the max, and even then, since he's our free agent, if we offered him like 7-8 mill, it'd still be Mo Money from us long term (due to our numbers increasing by 12.5%, compared to 10%.) ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Just had a look at Davo's salary page - great work. I just realized that if there was any way to unload Drew, Walt and Rogers during this season for ANY players who are in the last year of their contract, the Rockets would gain an enormous 11 million dollars in cap space for next year. I really was not aware of the fact that next season, Rogers makes more than Francis and Walt makes more than Francis, Dan Langhi, Kenny AND Moochie (if he resigns for the same salary) combined!!!! Considering that, I would definitely keep Kenny - he is a bargain!! Couldn't they have signed Langhi to a more long-term kind of deal?? He will be so much more expensive after the first two years.
