I never got around to bringing this up last season, but what the heck is up with what the Power Dancers had on their tops last season at times? It read "Animals have Rights". What brought about that crazy ordeal? Animals have no rights, sorry. They were put here for the benefit of man. That's my belief. I don't condone inhuman treatment of animals by any means, but RIGHTS?! C'mon. I hope they drop that act. Comments?
Man is an animal (one with a big ego problem). The human species will one day become extinct and other life forms will carry on. "What happens to one will affect the other. You must understand this." - Obi-Wan Kenobi
Fifty million years ago You walked upon the planet so, Lord of all that you could see Just a little bit like me Walking in your footsteps Hey Mr. Dinosaur You really couldn't ask for more You were God's favourite creature But you didn't have a future Walking in your footsteps Hey mighty brontosaurus Don't you have a lesson for us You thought your rule would always last There were no lessons in your past You were built three stories high They say you would not hurt a fly If we explode the atom bomb Would they say that we were dumb? Walking in your footsteps Fifty million years ago They walked upon the planet so They live in a museum It's the only place you'll see um. Walking in your footsteps... They say the meek shall inherit the earth... Walking in your footsteps...
Les Alexander is a vegetarian and a supporter of animal rights organizations. As long as Les remains the owner of the team, I suspect his beliefs will come accross in some way.
Were less socially or intellectually evolved humans pt here for for the benefit of those more advanced, as well?
Animals absolutely do have rights, and those rights should *never* be stripped from them. Those rights include: The right to be eaten The right to be hunted The right to be shot at The right to have their skins displayed on my floor The right to have their antlers displayed on my wall The right to be a part of the plush leather that adorns the seats of my luxurious car
That's not what I said, and you know it. For the record, I don't hunt. I couldn't bring myself to kill an animal that hasn't threatened me. I am probably one of the few gun nuts you'll find who thinks that hunting is wrong...
That's cool, treeman. I didn't mean to directly ascribe the killing thing to you. I was referring to Jorge too (and the fact that you singled out abuse but didn't take issue with the killing thing). Clear it up for me though. You think killing animals is wrong too? What do you eat?
I enjoy that last second right before the shot and the field processing almost as much as eating the meat...
As Clutch puts it. "It's a priviledge, not a right." It isn't against making priviledges into rights though. It's against pretending priviledges as rights in the first place. Countries are found for humans, not animals. Nature is found based on one rule that encompasses all range of animals, grass eaters or predators, to be born, be killed and be eaten. God hasn't spoken of animal rights. There is no legal ground in the human world, the animal world and the divine world for animal rights. Men want to protect animals from abuse out of the kindness of their hearts. Since it's a previledge, not a right, for animals to not to be abused, exceptions can and should be made when animals are needed to suffer for practical gain of humans. Such as being testers to new medicines, pleasing our taste buds and warming our bodies with their skin. IMO What is abuse or not is the main problem that lies in the area of animal "rights".
I think it is okay to kill enemy soldiers. I don't want to have them captured and then flayed alive though. If you kill with a good reason (I have my ideas about what constitutes a good reason, and I am sure there are others who would disagree) that is not necessarily bad, but I don't think people or animals should be made to suffer needlessly.
I think hunting for sport is wrong, BJ. I eat hamburgers. That does not extend to bugs, though. Especially spiders. I kill them with a zeal that is uncommon in your most maniacal serial killer.
For those who even remotely believe the Bible, God once required animals to be sacrificed...that means killed and offered up. I believe it is also stated that animals were for the benefit of man. The old testament is very specific about the TYPES of meat you could and could not eat, at that time. Take it as you will. There's a reason for those pointy teeth in the front of your mouth, and it isn't to crush and grind bird seed. Animals kill each other all the time for survival, and that is part of our role as well. I believe that hunting is fine. Hunting and then using what you kill is ok in my book. Killing just for the sake of killing is irresponsible. We are intelligent enough to manage ourselves for the amount of harvesting we do of certain species, and if that is done, I see no harm in hunting. If someone want to be a vegetarian for whatever reason, that's their choice, with this exception: What I don't believe, and am quite tired of actually, is this movement for animal rights, how its wrong of us omnivours to eat meat. Don't kill the animals! bah. Someone should spank the wolf for killing the rabbit, but wait, they don't know any better.... shocking.
If Les were a homophobe, it wouldn't be right for him to have them wearing shirts that express corresponding types of sentiments. But mainly just because it's a widespread belief that "gay bashing" is wrong. TECH here is just saying that it is within his belief system that "animal rights" are wrong (pardon the hidden oxymoron). I'm saying, when you're adamant about something, there are always going to be groups of people who are just as adamant about the inverse of that something. Upon these grounds, figureheads should choose the statements they make wisely. But really, I'm all for Les' self-expression on this level. I'm just defending what appears to be the minority here.
because i study biology i have alot of discusions about subjects like this. The biggest problem is that if you discus things like this religion always will be mentioned. and the evolution theorie. Because if you do not believe the evolution theorie then you will not understand my point. but i wil give it a try. for the record i do eat meat.i do not want to offend religieus people, so sorry if you do not agree with me i think Humans are animals too. the only differents is that humans became smarter. but we are just like all the other animals. The rate that animals die today are faster then any naturedisaster. when the dinosaurs got extinct the species didn't get extinct as fast as the species nowaday. It is mostly because of humans. The humans are a plague for the earth. there are to many humans on the world. if you look at it like a biology student. then it is a matter of time before the earth recovers itself and thereby destroying the human race, or atleast make sure that there are alot less humans. Maybe by a disease or something. In what way do i think animals have rights? i think animals have rights we should try to make sure not alot of species dissapear because of the humans, ofcourse species die, but not at a rate as fast as now. so we should not threat animals verry bad, ofcourse we have to eat so therefor animals should die. If you look at it from an evolutonary point of vieuw then it doesn't matter the earth and nature will bounce back, although i think it will not be in tha favor of humans. For the people i have offended. sorry. i'm not an religious man. but i understand if people are religious. if you want to discuss with me trie not to bring religion in the discussion. because you cannot have a discusion where there are scientiffic arguments and religious argumants. not saying that one type of argument is better but you cannot have both in the same discusion p.s. sorry for my bad english spelling, i'm alot better with words
Animals can not have rights because to have a right, you have to be able to claim it and take advantage of it. So insofar they have no rights at all. We are not simply animals, but we are a higher order of being with the ability to think and reason (most of us, anyway). Animals should be treated humanely by their owners, but their assertions that animals that are to be killed for food shouldn't suffer is ridiculous. Who cares if they cram calves into tiny pens so they can turn them into veal. I like veal, veal tastes good. But as far as hunting is concerned, kill it and grill it, baby!!!!!!
