My Nexus One just got a 2-part system update, but I'm still at 2.2.1. Anyone else get this? Gingerbread's supposed to be out soon, so I'm thinking it's some sort of prep patch for it.
http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=11767 Oh, boring security stuff. Meh. We can still discuss 2.3!
pretty sure the guy is the biggest android troll in the universe, probably has this on his car: anyways, is there a changelog anywhere for this? what are the big features?
I'm tired of the long anticipation and the teaser info. Get on with it now! If Gingerbread's new UI isn't a home run, Google will have a backlash. Gotta say I'm happy enough with Froyo.
I don't know what's funnier, you automatically assuming that someone critical of Android must like iOS, or that you accused Bebop of liking something about the iphone.
It won't. That's why it's just 2.3. The major UI changes are going to come with 3.0 (Honeycomb). The former head of Palm's WebOS UI just joined Google a couple of months ago and became Android's UI director. He likely needs more time than when Gingerbread's releasing.
install Launcher Pro if you don't like the base home UI for Android plus if u like the iPhone home screen, a Samsung Galaxy line phone is just for you buddy
I'm pretty happy with Android, though I have to say that I think I'd prefer the new Samsung Epic over my Evo. I like the Evo, I just feel like Samsung makes great phones and up until this one I've always had them.
Samsung makes slick LOOKING phones, but they never perform. I had been devoted to Samsung devices, but following one disappointment after another (Upstage? Instinct?) I switched to HTC and there IS no comparison.
got an evo after my sprint fraken palm pre plus gave up on me. for gaming and fluidity, the pre was better (no comparison imo). getting a lttle irritated that there's not a stable root method for my new evo build (unrevoked hasn't solved it yet). i'll give it another week or i just may switch to at&t and get an unlocked palm pre 2 for a truly open os that can be rooted in undet a minute with the konami code.
Waiting until January for all the sexy new HP hardware to be announced. The newest rumors are that the "Mansion" will be a hybrid phone/tablet a la Streak with a 5" screen, and they keep talking about all kinds of interesting new form factors. Whatever it is they come up with, I'm on board. WebOS for life. I've been playing with a Streak lately. The hardware is nice, but after using WebOS fiddling with Android can feel like hitting your head against a brick wall, to be honest.
I chose my Epic over an Evo. So far it's great, very smooth. Android 2.2 is barely gonna come out on it though
Gingerbread is indeed supposed to be a major UI upgrade. Don't let 2.2 to 2.3 fool you. Eclair to Froyo (2.1 to 2.2) was a very important upgrade and Gingerbread seems to be getting more pre-release buzz than Froyo did. Honeycomb (3.0) is for tablets, which is why it's being talked about so close to Gingerbread. It's scheduled for release early next year.
Does anybody know anything about the upcoming Notion Ink? I've been following it since it was announced earlier this year. I like that it combines some of the features of a great tablet and e-readers. Any sophisticated techies know anything else? Is this an Ipad challenger?
I'd already be happy if I got 2.2 on my Samsung Galaxy S. The update might be available, will have to try doing that sometime soon, but Kies is such an unbelievable piece of crap software.
