He's got to wear a mask since he broke his face http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_3102765 ...Kirilenko said he had considered painting the clear mask, molded from his face, to look like a superhero, though he is worried about cutting down his peripheral vision. And he is mulling various hairstyles that work with the strap that goes over the top of his head, he said. The mask fits well, now that the eyeholes have been cut bigger, though it still restricts his breathing slightly. "But I can't breathe in my nose right now anyway," he said.....
Little known fact about Kirilenko - he actually has the power to stop a clock with that ugly mug of his.
This can be said about quite a few players. That being said, dude is an absolute FREAK. He's one of the few players who can definitively change the complexion of a game without scoring that much.
I think it's an awesome idea. If i had to wear one of those face masks, i'd take it to the guy that makes all the famous masks for the NHL goalies. On a side note: Why does Richard Hamilton still wear a face mask? How long can your nose be broken?
Rip still wears one because he's used to it now. Gives him peace of mind, I guess, which is weird because he rarely drives to the basket anyway.
i read somewhere that rip has to wear it because he's going to need reconstructive nose surgery if he breaks his nose one more time. apparently his nose no longer has some kind of muscle or tissue that holds the bone there.
Additionally, I heard he doesn't have much cartilage so it is highly susceptible to breaking or getting smashed in.
In the script for Rocky VI, Ivan Drago dies from a brain tumor caused by steroid use, and his son played by Kirilenko fights Rocky's son played by Manu Ginobilli for the heavyweight championship of the world. As you can imagine, Rocky Jr. gets the stuffing beat out of him, and gets knocked down in every round, only to come off the mat in the 12th round to knock the mask off Drago, Jr. and claim the title.
that's awesome. AK47 is such a cool character in the league. and to counter the guy who said he's an ugly guy, isn't he married to a supermodel or something
Kirilenko is extremely flexible. He can be interchanged at SG, SF, and PF. The guy can do it all without even demanding the ball. He slashes, finishes, shoots the 3s, and creates havoc on defense. The perfect complementary player to Yao and Tmac.
Stand Back, there's a Kirilenko coming through.... But seriously, that dude is awesome. It will be interesting to see what the Jazz do this year. Was last year's start before Kirilenko got hurt a fluke, or was that what we should expect from the Jazzholes this year?
He's married to some Russian pop singer. She's pretty cute and her accent is perfect for a Bond girl...
That's really not much of a feat. If you are a 'regular Joe' with a few grands to spare, you could get a gorgeous Russian gal for yourself.
Absolutely, couldn't agree more. This guy is the ultimate 'utility player' in the league. If you want a hustler, a blue-collar do-it-all type of player, he's your man. The only thing questionable about him though is his health. If he stays healthy, he's always one of the top all-around players in the league. He reminds of a young Scottie Pippen, except he's a better shot-blocker.
