According to Morey, he's not old enough yet..wait til he's 37 and the rrockets can sign him for 3 years for relatively cheap.
Iggy has a very low basketball IQ, very questionable shot selection, and he can't create his own shot and he can't shoot. He's a garbage man type player on offense, like a Marion type. I definitely feel like he is a better player than Battier, but the guy is not a good offensive player.
I've seen some dumb comments posted on this board through the years and this is one of the dumbest. If you think he has a low bbiq, then i would like to know your credentials and definition of low bbiq.
He showed a lot of overall game improvement during the World Championships. He played good defense and was consistent with his jump shot. I think he's just tired of losing in Philly and having the blame placed squarely on him because he is their star player. I have reservations about him and potentially tying down the team with a long term deal just in case he doesn't fit in, but I'd make a trade for him. We are getting below average offensive output from the SF position this season and he'd fix that along with improve our overall defense.
These clips would prove you otherwise... I'm sure there are more of these highlight clips out there, but i dont have time to look for them. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4D6Awp6755g?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4D6Awp6755g?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3L8mNnWjlYk?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3L8mNnWjlYk?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> You dont have career averages of 16ppg, 6rpg, 5apg, and 2spg without Basketball IQ. Having a player with Andre Iguodala's capabilities would bring some excitement and some fire back to this team. If Philly is trying to get rid of Iggy, regardless of the contract, you do it. I think he would fit in great in our system. I would even go as far as bringing Elton Brand here too with Iggy if possible. Contracts are hard to swallow, but they would instantly make us a top 10-15 defensive team.
I would not go so far as to say I would be willing to take on Brands contract... it is just to much salary to work with... total salary to match is somewhere around $30 million we would have to throw in Battier, Jeffries, Scola (he is BYC), Hill and more... That would kill our depth not to mention how many players would Philly have after that trade. It just isn't feasible without giving Martin, which if we are taking Brand's contract I would not do....
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2u3vey2 Give 2012 pick to Sac. Strike while the iron is hot!!
Elton Brand: 2010-2011 - $15,959,099 2011-2012 - $17,059,726 2012-2013 - $18,160,354 Andre Iguodala: 2010-2011 - $12,345,250 2011-2012 - $13,531,750 2012-2013 - $14,718,250 2013-2014 - $15,904,750 (Player Option)
he is the 17th (tied with Kenyon Martin) highest nba player for the 2010/2011 season he is being paid $15.95 million. His contract runs until the 2012/2013 season in which he will make $18.16 million. Considering Iggy's contract is $12.35 million this year, trading for both would be a lot of players. To put it into perspective we would have to trade Battier, Jeffries, Scola, Lowry and Patrick Patterson, we could reduce the number of players involved by offering Martin or Yao but in either case I see the trade as a bad move for the Rockets, unless the sixers give up more.
If you are going to trade for Cousins and Brand, you have to give up more big guys than Yao (he doesn't get traded anyway) and Jeffries (he is more of a big SF by the way). You can't keep Scola, Hill, Hayes, Patterson, Miller if you get those two guys in return. I'd rather take a shot at Cousins and Iggy, no need for Brand.
I would gladly take on Brand if they give us the option to switch first round picks with them in 2011 and they take back our expirings (Battier, Jeffries, Hayes) plus Lowry, Hill and Taylor. This would mean we get the highest of ours, NY's, or Philly's lottery pick with Philly's being unprotected. Philly then gets the next highest and NY gets the last pick. Plus we get Iggy and Brand. Brooks/Ish Martin/Lee Iggy/Chase Yao/Brad/Speights Scola/Brand/Patterson Philly buys out Hayes and we take him back. This gives Philly a huge salary dump and likely just moving down in the draft next spring a few spots as either we or NY is likely to be in the lottery. We get a nice big man rotation of Yao/Scola/Brand with Patterson developing if Yao comes back healthy. If Yao is unhealthy, we've got a decent two-way big in Brand who can still defend, board, and score efficiently. We also get a playmaker and defender with more size and capacity than Lowry. Lowry goes home to Philly. And we are still in play for a bigger move for a superstar with our draft picks and young talent.
Sorry to burst your bubble but you have not included enough salary from Houston to get Brand and Iggy. You would need to add Miller or Scola to that deal.
Battier, Jeffries, Hayes, Hill, Lowry, and Taylor should be enough salary to get it done. (outgoing salary * 1.25) + $100,000 Lowry's salary counts as half since he is BYC.
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5751059 After running through the math I think you may be right, my stupid trusting this trade checker.....
Or they could just replace martin's salary with Iggy's. Iggy makes 1m more than martin this year and has 4 more years, but the rockets could play him at the 2 and get a 3 later. Better yet, ask for thaddeus young and toss in the knicks pick since it looks like the knicks are going to be at least .500 this year.
Iggy at the top running the offense with Martin and Brooks on the wings, Yao in the post and Scola or Brand at the PF would be an interesting combo. Iggy is a very underrated facilitator, a great defender, and he has been very clutch in the few moments that Philly has had to be clutch in. He's a legit player and if we cannot acquire Melo, I am for acquiring Iggy.
