Phillie sure is dragging their feet on this issue. We need Iguodala now. Part of me knows that they will drag it out til sometime in Dec..
How is Iggy the answer? Why do people expect Iggy to lead a lottery bound Rockets team to a ring, when he can't lead a lottery bound Philly team to a ring? The only thing that Iggy will do is make the team older and delay the Rocket's rebuilding efforts.
He is not the answer but he would help this team by giving them a 2nd scoring threat. I love battier, but it is time to replace him.
You mean to tell me that someone who plays defense like Battier and scores 15+ points a game won't help?
doesn't still having battier delay our rebuilding efforts? Iggy would bring the same if not better defense than shane, he is younger than shane, he isn't injury prone (not saying Battier is) and he can play both ends of the floor.
Iggy would simply make the Rockets go from a high draft position to a low draft position for the 2011, 2012 and 2013 drafts. They would never be good enough to win a ring. They would blow it up in 2013. Battier doesn't hinder our rebuilding at all. Battier doesn't make enough of an impact to make them an 8th or 9th seed. His contract was not extended, so the additional playtime will also go to future lottery picks.
when your team is 4-10, no one player is "the answer". we did not get into this situation in one trade, and we will not get out of it in one trade. that being said, Iguodala, as a wing, is the exact opposite of Kevin Martin. He can create his own shot off the dribble, can finish at the rim, and plays excellent defense. He would compliment KMart well and if we somehow managed to keep Brooks in the deal, we could put the ball in Iggy's hands knowing he had two sharp shooters camped on the 3 point line when the double comes. Of course, if we are in fact rebuilding, then trading for Iggy is pointless. But until we make that decision, i think he is the best fit to be had if the price is right (and he gets back to 100% from his achilles injury).
It is still way to early to talk about rebuilding. If its possible that we could end December at .500, we could start to make a good run at the playoffs. Timing is everything. They need to get it done as soon as possible.
With Yao and AB returning it would not be 1 player it would be 3 players. ANd that is as major a change as you can make without gutting the team and starting all over. Even if we don't get Iguodala if Bud keeps improvong he will be our starting SF over Battier and that should help. Especially if Brooks becomes our 6th man. This team will get better by January. The problem is will we be so far in a hole we can dig our way out.
This is absolutely correct. He won't be enough to get us into the playoffs, but he will hurt our draft position.
So part of "the answer" is to go for the guy on one of only 3 teams teams that has a worst record(0.188, 3-13) than us? The Rockets can become the 76ers of the West with Scola replacing Brand. The Rockets will just end up with another lottery season and a lower draft pick.
Does our draft position even matter this year? 2011 will probably be a crap draft anyway, at least past the top 5.
Rockets are currently in the 4th position. If they win a few more games, they will drop out of the top 5.
I said it last year, but I would take iggy over martin any day of the week. Its not that I think iggy is great, but he's good in alot of places. He adds alot of versitility because he can defend both wing spots. Offer up martin, hayes, patterson for iggy. With holiday and evans on the side of martin, his lack of playmaking wouldnt be exposed as much.
Philadelphia will ask for hometown boy Kyle Lowry as part of the package for Iguodala. Would you give him up for Iggy then?
I doubt they ask for lowry with holiday starting. He might feel better about coming off the bench at home vs doing it for the rockets. If they wanted martin and lowry for iggy, i would do it.
