    Scrubs and Family Guy are the best comedies on television. Unfortunately I havent seen either lately...

    Dude, guys, I think a thread about ranking your favorite TV shows might be necessary. It wouldn't be just to have another thread dedicated to a list but also to inform others of what's on. I think I gotta go do that...

    american dad has some potential.

    I loved the part where it had "Snot" voiced by the booger character from revenge of the nerds and the asian guy.

    the head cheerleader was voiced by Carmen Electra

    I think the goldfish will become the favorite sort of like stewie

    I know it's all the same guy, but to me, with regard to voice, it sounded like Peter Griffin played the alien and the dog played "American Dad". Maybe it will turn out, but I think he should just stick to Family Guy.

    I didn't like AD nearly as much as Family Guy, but then again, the FG pilot was not nearly as funny as the series turned out to be - pilots rarely are.

    My opinion is that Seth McFarlane didn't foresee the return of Family Guy when he created American Dad, so the similarity wouldn't have been that big of an issue. Now that they'll both be on, almost certainly on the same night and probably back-to-back, hopefully he can steer them in opposite directions.

    American Dad doesn't seem to rely as heavily on bizarre references.

    Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet...

    It had its moments but was too much like Family Guy (the dad was a cross between Peter and Brian, the music was straight from FG), only not as good.

    For those who like ATHF, have you seen Venture Bros. yet? That's a good show.

    As for AD, I liked it, it has potential.

    You guys are insane, I know it was just the trailer and all, but that was completely terrible. As was the Simpsons preceding it.

    American Dad would be great IF Family Guy wasn't returning to TV. American Dad is too similar to Family Guy for my liking. Each character has a similar likeness except Stewie.

    Dad --> Peter
    Mom --> Lois
    Alien --> Brian
    Prepubescent Son --> Chris
    Hippie Daughter --> Meg (nerdy daughter)

    Goldfish --> Stewie ?

    The show was bad.

    My roomate who never watches TV recently saw an episode of Family Guy and laughed his butt off. He saw this and said it was the worst piece of....

    Unbiased opinion.

    Family Guy is head and shoulders better then American Dad.

    I was reminded last night of why I do not watch the Simpson anymore. Bad, very bad.

    i thought it was great

    numerous funny parts such as the dad overdoing the purse stealing, the fish telling the history on how his brain was swtiched, when the dad said "You want to know what I think about the policy, um yea I was suppose to fart, but couldnt", and when the dad thought Steve was gay.

    Funny stuff, not the best, but a good start.

    btw, if Fox was cracking down on the Super Bowl stuff with fear from the FCC, how the hell did the simpsons get away with doing that Flander's home movie with the kids stabbing each other and it was pretty graphic.. :rolleyes:

    Does anyone know why McFarlane went ahead and made a new show as Family Guy is starting up again? Might be kinda hectic for him

    American Dad was slated for productions I think at the end of 2003. After the immense sales of the Family Guy dvds and the success it has had in syndication on TBS and Cartoon Network, Fox asked McFarlane to continue production of the show. It was previously taken off the air because of its adult themes and humor that parents felt was too innappropriate for children. This is true but there is a TV14 rating on the show and as long as I remembered it has aired during prime time (at 9pm) and parents are idiots if they believe all cartoons during prime time are meant for children.

    McFarlane was already working on American Dad when Family Guy became available again and I think that if it came down to one or the other Family Guy will continue while American Dad will stop. I see American Dad running for the 1/2 season or so if Family Guy picks up right where it left off.

    As for the show it had its moments and there is potential for it. The first family guy wasnt the best one (though it had one of my all time favorite moments with the Kool-Aid Man) Give AD some time i am sure it will grow on you.

    American Dad will get cancelled, Family Guy will live on.

    We've just seen the next Futurama.
