Has anyone else been in the American Airlines Center yet?

I went to the Mavs/Nets game today, and to say the least, I was very unimpressed. The actual arena part was very nice and the luxury boxes looked cool, but the outside of the AAC is plain UGLY to me. I sure hope the new arena in Houston isn't as ugly on the outside as the AAC. It looks like a damn old warehouse.

There really doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house, and my dad and I got first row center court in the upper deck for a very reasonably priced $35 per ticket.

The atmosphere<sp?> at the game was really exciting, there were lots of festivities going on outside of the arena and the fans actually seemd to WANT to be at the game and cheered for their home team....anyways, what do you guys think of the AAC?

Man, I think the outside of the arena looks great.

When I went to TX-OU weekend, i saw the outside of the AAC, and I was amazed about how neat it looked on the outside. It looks great.

i've only seen in from the outside when i went up to a friend's place in Dallas for Texas-OU weekend, but i agree that it looked pretty nice. I can't wait to go up to Dallas again, and catch a Stars or Mavs game...

    I guess I'm just weird..

Something about the building just looks really oogly to me...I guess the whole retro type look doesn't do it for me...but the inside of the arena is VERY nice. AND I got a free Chalupa today.

Yeah I can see what you're saying. A lot (probably all) of the new buildings will not look like "arena's" from the outside. The brick exterior gives it the old school gymnasium feel. If you don't like AAC, I bet you won't like Conseco Fieldhouse in Indiana. It's similarly designed.

    New non-retro buildings:

Yeah i'm wierd too. I understand the retro thing everyones trying to do, but I don't know, there just seems to bee to much fringe and detail stuff going on, too new to be old to big to be old. It looks like Soldier field or something.
I had a friend whos marble company did all the marble in that arena, he said the luxury suites are sweet and the bathrooms are even nicer (he's very proud of the black marble in the bathrooms, did you see?!)!! Marc cubans got the billionaire geeks suite, computer etc...

BTW, that Miami thing looks great from the front, I saw it a few years ago when it first was built, but that backside overlooking the bay...hmmmmmmm, very stylish:rolleyes:

Can;t wait for our New arena!:)

Hey, at least they aren't building arenas like the one that I attended my first NBA game at...

    Phoenix Veteran's Memorial.
Now THAT place was a dump.

I went to a Mavs/Suns game in Dec. My pops company has season tickets in the "Platinum Level" They arent box seats, but just a level where you get nice seats, a waitress, and posh concessions (bars, gorumet food, hell even coffee).

I thought that the whole arena is very impressive. Its a little too nice perhaps. It felt like I was walking through a hotel rather than a stadium, but hey it was pimped out.
