I didn't say playing on a winning team decided the matter by itself. Please read the entire post, including what I was replying to. My point was there is more than one "argument" when comparing Amare to David Lee. One of them is Lee played on a trash team in a run & gun system that inflated his stats. Bosh and Amare are impact players. David Lee definitely is not. The Knicks made a mistake giving Amare so much, but pity the poor team that gives David Lee close to the same amount.
I'm not saying Lee is better than Amare, but that he might be a better fit. However, you're simply looking at stats and ignoring the fact that Amare was a starter as soon as he was drafted whereas Lee did not even become a starter until 2 years ago. This wasn't because he wasn't any good (he came off the bench and still managed to get a double double in 06-07) but because Isiah Thomas was running that team into the ground and was stuck behind such stalwarts like Eddy Curry, Channing Frye, and Quentin Richardson. 07-08 he was behind Zach Randolph in Zeke's rotation. 08-09, D'Antoni takes over and Lee earns a starting spot, making his splash. I don't think you should hold that against him.
I love how you guys talk about David Lee's rebounding. But you have to notice how bad David Lee is at boxing out his man. He probably gives up half the amount of rebounds he gets.
They dumped alot to get here in the first place. So that would lead to me conclude that unless they replace everyone they dumped as well? They are actually worse right now.
Okay, so what are we talking about here if you guys aren't saying Lee's better than Stoudamire? That David Lee is such a better fit that they should of given up the cap space for him and not have room for two max super stars? That it wasn't worth it to make sure they had a bonafied #1 option in case they couldn't get another superstar and just settled for David (who does not have that offensive capability)?
There's the chance the Knicks could keep Lee. Douglas Chandler, Rautins Gallo, Walker, Fields Lee Amare, Curry
Chris Sheridan is pretty reliable. It does make sense. Why would Amare sign in New York if he didn't know LeBron was coming with him? LeBron-Amare pick and roll will be deadly if he signs.
Some of you are really underrating Lee. Sure, Amare maybe able to put up 20 PPG even without nash, but was he playing in a winning team before nash came in? I bet if Lee had nash in NY last year, NY would've been alot better.
Amare really down played the easy buckets he received in pheonix due to playing with a stellar HOF point guard. He has no one even close to a PG in New York.
Because he is an impact player, he doesn't need Lebron. He will turn the Knicks into a winner all by himself!
Biggest misconception about Amare. His quickness allows him to face up and blow past his defender. Having a Nash does help, but for the most part Amare's numbers will be either just a good or better without Nash. More than a PG, the Knicks need more shooters to space the floor.
Questions for you. In your opinion, (1) Would the Suns have won 54 games and made the Western Conference Finals if they had David Lee instead of Amare? (2) Would the Knicks have won more games last season with Amare instead of David Lee? Let's see how far this goes. LOL! Either this could get more silly or sanity might prevail. People, I'm not a big Amare fan at all. I've chopped on him pretty hard in this forum. But we are talking about DAVID LEE! C'mon!
Suns win 50 maybe instead of 54 games. Knicks win 2-3 more games. Whopdedoo. If they don't get Lebron, they win 25-35 games again this year.
