Amare Stoudemire for KG? Should the Suns do it?

I will do it in a heatbeat if I am Steve Kerr and KG is available. Everything the Suns are doing is about Steve Nash. Look at Gm 4 vs Spurs, it was Steve Nash's shootings, crispy passes that finally pushed the Suns over hump and won Gm 4. Look at Gm 6 vs Spurs, behind 20 pts and it's Steve Nash again who scored 10 straight points to pull the Suns within striking distance. If the Suns want to "win now" with Steve Nash, this is the moment. And Steve Nash cant win with Amare for his poor defense. A line up with Nash, Bell, Marion, Diaw, Garnett is the team to beat.

KG would make that team the overwhelming favorites. Basically do what Amare does on offense plus an all-league defender instead of an ole defender.

If I am Minny I'd want Barbosa somehow too.

I would definitely try to get Barbosa out of the deal if I was Minnesota. I can't emphasize how much Amare benefits from Phoenix's system, he's still far from having the impact of a player like KG. Borderline championship teams like Phoenix and Chicago should be pretty aggressive in their pursuit of Kobe and KG this offseason.

Phoenix owns Atlanta's UNPROTECTED draft pick next year. If Atlanta doesn't make the move for Randolph then it will certainly be a lotto pick.

The rights to that pick will be extremely valuable to Minnesota and almost certainly be included in a Garnett deal. If they sit on the deal for a few months and Atlanta is looking bad then they may be able to keep Amare while adding Garnett. Although salary wise, its unlikely. And personally I would rather keep Marion on that team, it does give Phoenix a more "traditional" championship caliber lineup.

If the deal did go down, which I think makes sense for both sides, it will reveal what Amare is really made of. Without the run and gun system and Nash feeding him the ball, can he still dominate on the offensive side as before?

There's no question If im the suns, I do an Amare for KG trade. Marion and KG both have two years left on their deals. Nash has three years left, but the last year is a team option. So really after 2009, the Suns could clear all three contracts from the books to start over. They would have a two year window to wing a ring. And a core of Nash, Marion, and KG could do it.

That would be funny. A paper tiger MVP and the only "superstar" in the league with less heart than McGrady. PULL THE TRIGGER PHOENIX! :D

KG while a good player is overrated. He really has no go to move. I think he would be a good secondary play instead of a superstar. The one year he got out of the first round was real testament to sam cassell and not KG.

Think on my own and buy into the Garnett hype like you do?

That would be a lot easier. You may be onto something here...

Thank you for enlightening me. I retract my ill-informed statements regarding Kevin Garnett's desire to win basketball games.

When KG enters the Hall of Fame, he'll make you eat those words. Unbelievably stupid post.

It's an "all-in" situation. The Suns need to willing go over the cap so they can get over the hump and bring home the championship.

He is a good player, but great players make it past the 1st round more than once.

Kobe hasn't been THE guy on his team for ten years. If he goes the remainder of the career without reaching round two, you'll have a point, but until then, the burden of proof is on Garnett.
