New kidney and all I would pass on this guy. I mean who wants to tie up $$$$ into something that could potentially be a waste.

I am not sure how Alonzo will help. The way I look at it, Rockets need some quickness and speed in the front court. I don't remember Alonzo is that quick to start with.

For a center he is actually very quick off his feet to get blocks...he's not a true 7 footer i believe. He is a bit smaller or really close..but he does have lateral speed and quickness so he could easily help on the weakside defense where we need it.

He's 6'9" or 6'10" on a good day, jumps like crazy and is an intimidator willing to plant you on your backside or deliver a kidney chop. He can drop the open jumper from 10 feet and hammer a loose rebound down. He's perfect for Yao.

I think ZO is a standard PF format player whatever he played as C a lot in Heats last few years. Anyway I wish we could make the deal that let him be a rocket. Think this, Ewing D.M. and ZO they all graduated from George Town. They all same style C as kinda classic standard and will be perfect tutors for Yao.

After watching tonights game against the Kings, I am beginning to think more and more that if we could acquire Zo without giving up Yao, TMac, and JJ, that we would actually be contenders for a trip to the finals. With Zo starting at the PF alongside Yao, weve got our defense, our shot blocking, the 15 footer, and the rebounding and intimidation. Then you bring Deke and whomever is not traded (Howard or MoT) and you have a very, very good set of big men. Id like to see a Yao Zo matchup against Duncan and Nasty man, or KG and Olowakandi. I believe the Rockets would get the better of those matchups. Utah is bringing it with Okur and Boozer also. Not to mention Camby and Kmart, or Damp and Nowitzki. As we are set right now, we lose every one of those matchups. If we had Zo to play with Yao, it flips those matchups in our favor. MoT and the TE for Zo??????? Whomever comes out of the West has to have the big men to matchup with the Pistons, or Heat (Shaq is the equivalent of 2 very good big men).

the nets want cap space, or at least ending contracts. that mean they would never take one of our PF's.

Weatherspoon's contract is pretty soon to ending and Taylor only has a couple more years left on his.

Spoon has a shorter contract than Zo, so that might be better than a straight buyout. BUT according to reports, Zo wants to go back to Miami, and his heath is still definitely a concern. Who knows if he can ever sustain an entire season.

here he could be a 15 min performer (pf/c - AS IN EMERGENCY), and invaluable in the play offs...IF HE HAS HEALTH!

The risk might be not so high. He will retire this time if he still has problem for his kidney. Then we at least could get rid of one contract of our PFs (certainly not Howard's if no other tips included in this trade)

What an *ss....he says he wants to play somewhere else....wants to be "bought out"....

I can not believe how spoiled and selfish this guy is. He wants the Nets to continue to pay him, but he doesn't want to play for them. If he simply offered them a $1 buy-out, I am sure they would set him free. Nope. He wants million$$ and still wants them to set him free.

This is what has gone wrong in the NBA. All these guys care about is the money. Zo, rot in *ell before the Rockets ever look at you....

I agreed...bring Zo and get rid one of the PFs be it Taylor or Howard. Those 2 guys are not perfect PFs that the Rox need anyway (and in my opinion one of them will be removed eventually). Rox eventually will have to find the true PFs with size and skills. It never hurts to try. Bring in Zo ....i think he's still got the game being 34 or 35. He might be the PF the Rox were looking for. Mo and Howard is undersized and will be exploited in the Western Conference by players like Gasol, Webber, Duncan, Garnett.

I remember Zo can do so many things back in the day...he can block, rebound play defense and can shoot the mid-jumper...can nail FTs too....and he's fundamental. He's proven a superstar ....so never hurt to try. If Dawson call him up....you never know.....
