http://insider.espn.go.com/insider/archive?sport=nba Considering this article as a reference. Would the Rockets take a chance on Zo? If Miami decides to dismantle their team then they will be looking for contracts that end by 2003 and lottery picks. Let's say we do have a top five pick this year. Would we be willing to trade it to the Heat for Zo? I know, I know, another want to be GM. Here is the trade: To Houston- Alonzo Mourning or Grant To Miami- Top 5 pick, Walt, Willis **plus whatever to make the salaries work We are taking a huge risk on Zo. In my opinion we should do the deal if they take one of our bad contracts.(Cato or Rice) I would be willing to add or subtract someone if they take one of the two.
no way, zo has reoccuring kidney problems, do you wanna risk someone good for maybe 1 or 2 more seasons of 'Zo, i think we need an thletic 3 like Carmello Anthony, or a 4 like Drew Gooden to move eddie to the 3, either way, a top 5 pick for Zo, heck no
I've had the painful choice of watching the Heat this yr and i used to love watching Zo compete night in night out. A couple of yrs ago this would be a no brainer, but watching him struggle this yr i wouldn't do it. He ties and tries and still plays hard, but that iron man you see is a shell. It just seems like he's a step slow or looks very tired from the beginning. I think he was well on his way to the hall of fame, now I don't know. He'll Bill Walton is there so he still might make it. As far as the Rockets trading for him, i wouldn't do it.
Lee- That is exactly what I am worried about. However, if we get rid of Cato's contract I am all for it. Zo's contract is over the summer Duncan and many other premier players will be available as free agents. We really risk one year for our pick.
Ok, then I'll do it, but I think you might have to give Riley more than that. He might go for it especially if we can get rid or Rice and Cato or Cato and Taylor. I guess that would fly and then the summer we would have a chance to resign him or go after Duncan whom I really would go after of.
i read somewhere that riley listed all the heat players he is willing to trade and zo wasn't one of them. at first i thought maybe it was a loyalty thing, but now possibly because of his contract running out before the big free agent year.
I bet it is a bit of both. It would be a tough decision. Taking on Rice or Cato and a top five pick for Zo. I would do it if I was Riley.
I got this from bskball.com. I know that site is not very reputable but it seems reasonable. $20 million in capspace? See ya Zo... Steal them from someone? League sources continue to suggest Alonzo Mourning is available, if your willing to take the risk, there was apparently a handshake agreement with Zo and Riley that he would not trade him without discussing it with him, but where the Heat sit, almost anywhere would be a better situation... Would Zo agree to joining the Grizz?... Would Zo agree to going to the Clippers? It seems for sure that Riley is planning life without Alonzo.... They drop 20 more games you may see him dealt.
We are talking about Zo, but what about Eddie Jones he is a conisitant scorer. I haven't seen much of him since the trade from LA, but I think he would be worth sending Taylor and Cato or Cato and Rice. Does anyone know when his contract runs out? I think with Eddie J at 3 and Eddie G at 4 would be good. And if we don't trade Taylor we have Eddie J at 3, Taylor at 4 and Eddie g at 5 that would be a great frontline. and of course we would have Francis and Mobley in the backcourt. DO you think this trade would ever have a chance of happening if so do you think our starting lineup would look like this C Giffin pf Taylor sf Jones sg Mobley pg Francis
