Hoopsanalyst.com is doing an interesting, but statistical take on this right now.

    Rockets:

    c - hakeem olajuwon
    pf- otis thorpe
    sf- lewis lloyd
    sg- vernon maxwell
    pg -john lucas

    6th - mario ellie

    About my team:

I like the gritty players who defend well. I remember madmax was one of the only players I ever saw who was unafriad of michael jordan. He played Jordan better than I ever saw anyone and he got into to people's heads.

I also remember lewis played majic pretty well and was just an awesome defender.

Thorpe never seems to get the respect he deserves as being the perfect compliment to hakeem.

Lucas was the best pure point we ever had and hakeem edges out moses, though it should be closer. Moses deserves that respect.

Finally, ellie. What can you say about the guy who spawned so much and did the dirty work and was the inspiration for this website in the day.

I debated that one cause I know Rudy is a Rocket legend, but I never saw him play. I remember Glen Rice as the MVP of the all-star game in 97 I think, and when he dropped 56 in that playoff game.

Iverson is definitely one of the 6 greatest 76rs of all time.

Worthy blows Vern Mikkelsen out of the water too, that's not even close.

Very true, but if I was putting together a team that I wanted to win with (against other all-time teams) I'd want the steady and solid (and completely unselfish; though I don't think Iverson's selfish) Mo Cheeks at the point, with a sweet shooter like Greer at the 2. You already have slashing/dribble penetration with Doc. I almost put Ivy as my sixth man, but I can't leave off Chuck. No matter what he says, he's a Sixer.

Maybe, but Mikkelsen was probably the first true Power Forward ever; I have to give him props for that.

As for Worthy, I'm not as high on him as some others are; I've always seen him as a less selfish Glenn Robinson who got out on the break. A great complementary player, but I couldn't put him over Baylor, and I tried to go by PG, SG, SF, PF, C (despite the way I typed it).

Jack Sikma is easily the greatest center in Sonics history. What a great jump-shooting team that would be.

Sam Perkins. I used to hate him, especially when he burned the rockets.

I see to remember Sir Charles saying he wanted to enter the HoF as a Sixer.

    For the Sixers I'd have:

    PG: Mo Cheeks
    SG: Allen Iverson
    SF: Dr. J
    PF: Charles Barkley
    C: Wilt Chamberlain

And even though Francis hasn't played a game for the Magic yet, this team looks pretty good....

    PG: Steve Francis
    SG: Penny Hardaway
    SF: Tracy McGrady
PF: Ben Wallace (hey, he was a Magic for a while!)
    C: Shaq

    Rockets:
Dream, Moses, Hayes, Murphy, Francis; Drexler
-->Lucas was as plagued as he was full of potential, and didn't last long.

    NYK:
Ewing, Oakley, DeBusschere, Monroe, Frazier; Reed (flip Reed and Oakley if position isn't all-important)

    Blazers:
Bill Walton, M Lucas, KiKi Vandeweghe, Drexler, Terry Porter; Jerome Kersey

    Lakers:
Shaq, Baylor, Bryant, West, Magic; Kareem
-->tough to leave out Worthy, but he tended to not show up until April.

    Celtics:
Russell, McHale, Bird, Havlicek, Cousy; Parish

    Bulls:
A Gilmore, J Sloan, Pippen, Jordan, N Van Lier; R Theus
-->Would love to put Grant, Rodman, or Brand in here, but none of them stuck for long. Kukoc is another possibility.
