hey guys, i was looking through the topics, no fantasy basketball topic yet. sorry if there is one. just wanted to discuss with you guys, my friends and i just had our draft. my team current stands at: steve francis stephen jackson tony parker carmelo anthony chris webber shaq yao morris peterson rudy gay mo williams (bucks) channing frye eddy curry i need some fantasy help i currently have frye and curry from the knicks on my squad. im looking to drop one of them, bynums preseason stats have been ridiculous, not sure how i didnt notice. frye hasnt been getting that much playing time. what should i do? drop frye or curry pick up bynum or hang onto both curry/frye?? anything wrong with my team?
ok just looked a bit harder and found a fantasy forum, in before my own lock advice would be great though
Hold onto Frye and Curry...both are better options than Bynum, who is only getting time because Kwame and Mihm are injured.
Maybe you can trade Rudy Gay for Adam Morrison.. if you're convincing enough. I just have a feeling Gay isn't gonna be that much of an impact this year..
that fantasy forum is a wasteland for threads. anyhow...how many teams are in your league? not trying to be rude but at first glance that team made me say "OUCH!".
To me the team doesn't look good.......chris Webber will probably never play 75 games in a season again, and Carmelo can only score, rebound is ever worse than Juwan. Shaq is wasting away, and Steve Francis needs to ball for himself. No three point threat on your team, tony parker only drives, few shooting.
the team doesnt look too bad, your 3 point threats are stephen jackson and mo pete of course. I would personally keep Frye, hes younger, stronger, faster and in my opinion alot more talented than Curry. Curry will NOT play 82 games, something always happens to the guy. He's injury prone, drop him now, pickup anyone, maybe Maxiell from the Pistons. and yao HAD to be his first pick, I don't think anyone else on his team could be ranked any higher.
I'm quite sure somebody will be willing to trade for Carmelo Anthony, after all, there are always some homers for some NBA players. Hopefully same for chris webber. How many teams are there and what website are you playing on (NBA? Yahoo? ESPN?). Or even better, simply tell us the roasters for your entire league. hopefully we can give you some good advice.
yeah lets see: 1. Y. Ming C 2. (23) C. Anthony SF 3. (26) S. O'Neal C 4. (47) T. Parker PG 5. (50) C. Webber PF 6. (71) M. Peterson SG,SF 7. (74) Z. Randolph PF 8. (95) S. Francis PG 9. (98) S. morrisin has had a really bad pre-season, the bobcats have a lot of options this year with gerald wallace dominating, felton and knight playing really well, okafor is back... i dont think morrison is going to contribute that much personally... hes just a scorer...gay does a bit of everything and hes starting.
i like carmelo i think hes gonna step up big this year. webber continually has a bad rap, but if you look at his stats... 75 games averaging 20/10/3 and 1.5 stls is really productive
What pick were you? Did you pick 5th or 6th? Yao is a great player, I grant you that, but picking him in the first round is a slight reach. Hell, who cares? I'm all for Yao homerism.
lol yeah, i had to go to class, so i set my auto draft to yao at #1. i just figured the season is 8 months long, might as well have my favorite player. yaos gonna be big this year though...just wait and see
I had Yao in my past 2 fantasies.. and he never disappointed. Ok maybe sometimes.. but for the most part, he kicked buttox. I bet the first pick was LBJ then either comes Kobe or Wade. I picked Yao in my first and picked Nash on my second fantasy.
Nice thread since nobody seems to really post or view the Fantasy Forum. I think everyone should post there team and order. Here's my team and draft order in a 12 team league. 1. (9) Y. Ming C 2. (16) T. McGrady SG,SF 3. (33) Z. Randolph PF 4. (40) K. Hinrich PG,SG 5. (57) C. Villanueva SF,PF 6. (64) T. Prince SF 7. (81) T. Ford PG 8. (88) S. Francis PG 9. (105) K. Martin PF 10. (112) C. Nice to see Rockets homerism, but Yao should have been picked in the second round. First rounders at 9th pick include: Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand, Kobe, Wade, Nash, Iverson. Fantasy speaking, those players are better than Yao. Tracy at second round is great, if he stays healthy (I'm speaking from a fantasy standpoint). Zach Randolph at Round 3 is a definite reach, as he might be around at Round 5. Round 3 players include Josh Smith, Boris Diaw, Amare (BIG ?), Joe Johnson, J-Rich. No problem with Kirk at round 4, but Charlie Villaneuva at Round 5 isn't bad, but the players still surving in Round 5 usually includes Antawn Jamison, Shaq, Mehmet Okur, Marcus Camby, even Dwight Howard once (I was picking at that time, don't ask me how I missed him), Brad milller should still be at Round 5 too. TJ Ford is ok value at round 6, but maybe Stephon Marbury might be there, or Speedy Claxton, both sleepers, and Andre Miller is no sloth, or even our Alston, he might be bad for % but nice for steals and assists. I didn't dare pick Steve Francis in any of my leagues, fearing for his sanity and only one ball in New York, but with his 39 points in the preseason, I guess a round 9 pick will do for him. Many rookies or sleepers are avaliable at Rounds 10-15. Cat is a nice pick at Round 10, but I'm not quite sure for Stackhouse, he's the Mavericks sixth man, and doesn't have great stats, picking Josh Howard at Round 6-7 might have been a good idea. Grant hill has to stay healthy, and at even aged 33 he would be good for some stats. nice job fnding Nazr Mohammad in Round 14, Flip Saunders will probably widen the Pistons offense, and Nazr will get some points, definite rebounds and even blocks. Is that Kevin Martin I see at the end? Ah well, it's the end of the draft anyway, who cares about the last guy ? In terms of catagory, assists won't be your priorty now, since the only real playmaker you have is Kirk Hinirch, and Steve won't do much in assists. Three pointers you should be above average in, T-Mac, Charlie, Kirk, Cat. Rebound-wise, Yao and Randolph are the two main men, and if Nazr can get enough, and the others chip in hopefully over 4 rebounds a game, that should do the trick, same with blocks, Yao and Randoph and Nazr, but I don't expect the others to get a block per game.
