Ok, that is stupid, you're asking how Gasol made it?

He is shooting 55% from the field, 79% from the line, averaging 17-18 pts a game, 9 Rebs, 3-4 assists and 1blk and he is the sole reason why the lakers became the favorites in the West after his acquisition, and you're asking how he got picked?

Who else was more deserving Stoudemire? Nowitzki is already in and so is West.

    Shaq's not doing anything special.

    Let the snubbing begin.

Paul pierce has arguably been the best player for the Celtics.

I would have gone with Al Jefferson over Shaq.

I meant to Say Ray-Ray has been the best for the celtics this year

    shooting 50% FG, 42% 3 PT, 90% line, efficient.

Al Jefferson is improving but he plays for a bad team, thats generally a no-no.

I'm surprised Vince didn't make it, he is a breathtaking player.

I would say al jefferson or milsap got snub over for either david west or gasol.

and parker over deron williams? i dont see how deron williams is widely considered the second best point guard in the league and yet hasnt made an all-star team yet.

parker is averaging 3.5 points more than williams, but about 4 assists less.

otherwise their other stats are nearly identical across the board (parker having the higher fg%, williams the higher ft%)

williams efficiency rating is higher than parkers too.

It has to do with the team Record

Spurs are second best in the West, not everything is done by efficiency but Parker deserves it as well.

Williams hasn't had a great shooting year from the field or the three, but he will get in next year for sure IMO.

Shaq being picked as a reserve is about as legit as T-Mac being voted a starter...

Yeah I corrected myself, Ray-ray has be phenomenal, he is one of the most smooth players to watch.

Abt: Gasol its okay to hate his style of play, my father hates the way he plays but acknowledges without him the Lakers wouldn't have made it to the finals even if they had Bynum.

Would liked to have seen Durant. Oh well he'll be in plenty in the future.

Except Shaq is putting up 18 ppg, 9 rpg, and 1.5 bpg. And he's shooting 60% from the field. Plus having Shaq at the All-Star game is always fun.

would have liked Dwill to make it, but his season hasn't been so great. but his numbers are good nonetheless.

Kind of hoped Durant, Jefferson(Al), and Carter woulda made it.

then why are there three players in harris, bosh and granger on all-star teams despite their teams poor success?

both parker and williams were injured for stretches of this season, a case could be made that williams' injuries was more harmful to his team than parkers.

i dont have the time now to look up the records of their respective teams with and without them, but if they have identical stats (and personally i weigh assists more than ppg when you are talking about the pg spot) then i go with the guy whose team relies on him more.

its hard to make a case against billups (who may have worse #s than parker and williams) since he helped turn denver around completely.

just seems that some of these picks were just made from past seasons or team records which i dont think should play a part in the all-star game. webber made a good point that sometimes even though you get the ball a lot on a bad team its hard to put up numbers since everyone is concentrated on guarding you. on the flip side its sometimes easier to play with an all-star since they make life easier on you or like in david west's case (or milsap/boozer) who sets everything up for them.
