first of all - i still think there is a good chance yao will overtake shaq in the voting before tomorrow.... but assuming oneal gets the starting nod then i've got a multi-part question about the game... 1. when do the coaches get set? i think flip saunders has a great chance to coach since adelman is ineligible... 2. there has been a lot of push about b. miller being a versatile center and i'm worried about him getting a spot instead of yao... 3. does todays performance (yao's defensive presence and not just his efficient offense) in front of saunders (and the national audience) seal his spot in the ASG... 4. also does anybody know when the 3-point shootout and dunk contest participants will be announced? it'd be nice to see cat get the exposure... thanks....
The only one I can answer conclusively for you is number 2. Yao is only epsilon away from catching Shaq, internet voting will put him way ahead of Shaq. It's a lock, there's no suspense. Yao will be starting. Shaq will be the back up again. Shaq should really start, but I mean the NBA is trying to go global with their fan base and this kind of stuff is gonna happen. But Yao is clearly the second best center in the league. Brad Miller... it's the system, put Yao in there and he'd get a ton of assists too. I think that Mobley might not make the 3pt competition, sometimes they go on reputation.
i've seen this opinion alot lately... is there a reason that you suspect the internet votes will coming into play more... i mean haven't they been counting the votes all along? if anything i think shaq's injury should be more of a reason ... but i'm a little biased
Well, I just filled 200 ballots with Yao starting at the center position at the game today so I could get a tee shirt and a towel. I saw many other people doing the same. I think he will catch Shaq.
