Okay Just saw it on espn's front page that they are picking Alex Smith to go number 1 in the draft. I don't think he's that good but i guess the 49er will take a risk on him. Do you really think the guy is worth it? Im really hoping that if the Texans fix their O-line through free agency they can get a reciever like Mike Williams out of USC if he is still in playing shape at their pick.
And what forum should i take it to? The texans forum? The Astros Forum? There has been plenty of football talk and other things in this forum so don't understand what your trying to say.
They're in the process of hiring Ravens' defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, I believe. I think that's his name anyway.
That's just Mel Kiper's blather; he's basically just a fan like you and me wearing a suit, except that he watches more tape than us, and has more intricate hair. Otherwise he apparently has no contacts w/scouts or GM's, has never worked for any team or in the league, and jsut sort of makes up his own opinion. Fun to debate/argue, but should be accorded its proper weight.
I think his dad used to coach for them: Dick Nolan. From the 49er website: NOLAN, Dick - (Maryland) Head Coach - 1968-75
Yep, this is the same guy that said the Colts drafting Dwight Freeney in the first round was a HUGE mistake on draft day...
On the other hand, he also said the Jets taking Chad Pennington would be the best pick for them that draft. . . And the famous - "Who the hell is Mel Kiper?" after Kiper panned the COlts taking Trev Alberts. Kiper was right, Trev was a bust, and the GM got the axe.
Wasn't that squabble over that Purdue QB? I forget his name. Alberts wasn't bad, just injured. I'd like to see a history of Kiper's projections and see how they rank in success.
