I'll make a bet that Kiri will have 11 blocks or more at least once this season. I have both him and Ben Wallace on my fantasy team...needless to say who is leading that league in blocks...by the way, this is one of the top leagues on ESPN for the past five years... Still trying to trade Big Ben for Yao though...but the other guy won't bite!
AK could put up olajuwon type defensive numbers this season. i wish i could see this guy play every night.
You guys think he has a shot at getting 200 and 200 (blocks and steals), ala Hakeem...? The steals would be tough, but hey, I think it's a possibility...
He's 23, and it's just a matter of time he'll get those numbers. If not this year, then probably next.
Actually, only about 15 or so... But the Jazz did take Quincy Lewis before AK (with the 19th pick), so...take that for what it's worth
I guess the most memorable thing Quincy Lewis has done in the NBA was to give AK his nickname AK-47...
he is on a great pace right now and he could easily lead the league in blocks....Theo Ratliff is right behind him at an amazing 6 blocks a game as well....
To paraphrase Jackie Brown, "AK47. When you absolutely positively got to win every mother f***ing game, accept no substitutes!" I first saw Andrei in the Rocky Mountain Revue before his rookie season. As he blew past his man to the left with one of the most amazingly fast first steps I've ever seen a white man produce, I knew this kid was going to be special. During his rookie year I was proclaiming that he'd be an all star in 2 years. Sure enough, he was. And now people are saying he's a frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year, and a shoe-in for another All Star spot. Granted Utah got lucky, just as they got unlucky by taking Raul Lopez instead of Tony Parker. But hey, It's nice to have rebuilt into a playoff team in 1 year. And that 1 year went way better than anyone expected, so it wasn't a disappointment. It's a good day to be a Jazz fan.
