I'm sorry I didn't try to look this up myself....I'm just so slammed today. I'm spending tonight in College station (Godchild getting married tomorrow). Is there a decent way to watch the game there? I had another morning where I was up before five, so preferably, I'd like to watch the game in my boxers in the hotel room. Is there typically a channel there that carries the game? Thanks in advance
Have you ever seen Deliverance? J/K. Refman, please stifle yourself. I'm only kidding. Pole, I think they would have the game at wings n more or the Dixie Chicken. Ooh, actually, I'm not positive those places would carry it. Mavericks market.
I checked the listings for College Station on tvguide.com. It appears you're out of luck. Sorry. When I was at A&M we didn't get the Rockets until my Junior year. When we did get them it was only after arm twisting the cable operator. I did the same with the Astros. I had rotating phone calls with the President of TCA cable, sports director at Channel 20, and trhe media guy from the Astros. When something got done it was very satisfying. Surprisingly, I even wound up with a decent GPA that semester.
Hell no there isn't! That town is a dump. Seriously though (well that was serious, but) to get the best suggestions, you would be best served to specify the types of places you like as the crowds in B/CS are a little different from place to place. If you want a more normal environment there was (probably still there) a Foxx and the Hound there that was pretty nice. Has a bar, places to sit and pretty good food. My advice to you would be mail the present and stay in town!
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45403 scroll down to the bottom of the thread for my post. Actually, the only way you can watch the game tonight is going to the Fox and Hound. They have it on Direct TV. It is a restaurant and bar. It's on University next to the Albertson's.
You know...comments like that only make you look like a jackass. If by "normal" you mean a bunch of frat daddys and drag queens like in Austin...ype that would be the most likely venue.

I feel ya pole (wait, did I just say "I feel ya pole"?)...I'm tired of this non-Rocket-broadcasting crap up here in Austin. Screw this crap, I'm going to Houston tonight to watch it.
It isn't in the Mavs market. It is part of the Waco TV market for the most part...although you do get a fair number of Houston channels. When the home games were on HSE/Prime Sports/FSN, the Rockets were on in College Station. They just don't get Channel 51 up there.
my bf lives in college station, & we can usually catch the game at one of the local bars out there called fox & hound, but if ur hotel has cable (coxx cable) then i should be on channel 15. i have yet to miss a game out there !!
whoops, i meant to post under my SN, i didnt realize my bf (pugsly8422) was the last one signed on.... please disregard my previous post, although the information is right
You have to take College Station for what it is: a crappy little college town, where all the various farmboys and tools from East Texas and alike come together to fight the war against TU. In College Station sex with sheep is encouraged, while self-thought is discouraged.
This has nothing to do with College Station or A&M... but I just got into town and am watching the Rockets on a 13" TV without an antenna (very fuzzy) b/c every TV in my parents house has satellite. Why the hell isn't channel 51 on satellite here? By the way, the Rockets look like ass tonight. I feel like I've been put on. I've only seen the 2 nationally televised games this season (Dallas & Indianapolis) and I expected much better! Ranting done.......NOW!
It's actually a nice place to go to school...but you wouldn't understand that. I've never even been on a farm...even to visit. If you consider Houston to be East Texas. In Austin, sex with your roommate is encouraged while pride in yourself is discouraged. It's pretty telling that you have to consistently rag on B/CS to make yourself feel better...and you say the guys in East Texas are tools. Look in the mirror, pal.
Thanks guys...unfortunately, I posted this just an hour or so before I had to leave, so I only got gr8-1's comments. t#s....yes, at 35 and graying, I'm starting to feel a bit old. This is actually the third of my nieces (this particular one also being a Godchild) to get married. I came along pretty late in life for my parents (my three sisters are all in their fifty's) As for College Station, I thought it seemed like a nice town. Granted, I went to school in Nacogdoches, so maybe my expectations aren't too high. Life is what you make it, and any time you cram more than five figures worth of college students into a small town, there should be fun to be found. Being Catholic, I'd have to say that I was pretty impressed with the Methodist Church there......DAMN that pastor (or whatever Methodist's call them) could sing! The reheasal dinner was at Cafe Excel, and they did a great job for a large group. The reception today was at the pebble creak country club, and that was also nice. This morning, my wife and I grabbed a starbucks and walked around the campus. All in all, I had a good time. I know everyone has strong opinions about A&M....you either love it or you hate it. But REALLY.....people are just people; no matter where you go. I actually left thinking a little bit wistfully that I wished I would have gone there. Of course, I've felt the same way about several Texas schools....including UT; so I guess most of you will think I'm just confused. Or a dumb lumberjack.
