If and when the deal goes down.... Will free Agents flock to the rocket to ride T-Mac and Yao coat tail to the playoffs? Nash? Dampier? Wallace? ........who else? will sign below their market value of course.
bring in d-fish, bowen, trade mo for kurt thomas, and pike for ollie and our lineup will look something like this... d-fisher/ollie/wilks mcgrady/nachbar bowen/jj kurt thomas/juwan howard yao/thomas =dyNASTY
David Aldridge has already reported that Derek Fisher will opt out of his LA contract and would be intersted in the Rockets.
We still have the 6.5 mil trade exception plus the full MCE so I guess its time to see if Les is willing to pull the trigger and make something happen.
i think Fisher and Barry are the top two canidates for the pg position... Fisher has more D, but Barrys height give him an advantage too.
Both of those will instrumental in filling out the bench depth. It will be paramount that we spend those funds wisely!
Brent Barry + T-Mac make a tall, accurate backcourt. Nash would be great too. Our start lineup would be: Brent Barry T-Mac Boki/JJ Howard Yao Everybody can shoot and pass, unstoppable.
we still have the MLE 4.5 million to sign a PG and we still have the trade exeption 6.5 million to trade for either a starting PF or PG. THis team will be stacked for next year. PG- 4.5 exeption (Barry, fisher, nash?,) SG - TMAC SF - JJ/BOKI combo PF - Howard/Trade ex (I have no idea) C - YAO There will be alot of extra players looking for minimum contracts in the end that will fill out our bench ( backup C)
Once we got McGrady ...there are going to be more superstars wanting to join the Yao/McGrady combo no doubt aabout it. Hopefully Steve Nash consider it.
Steve Nash is looking for a lot of money and a long contract, something I don't think the Rockets have or willing to give up. PG- Fisher and Barry lead the way, but Fisher has already said he is interested in coming to Houston. Ollie or Lue could play backup. SG- I see JJ starting the SG, but not playing the same minutes. Bostjan could see some time here. SF- McGrady w/ Bostjan backup up. PF- Howard can start, has been a pretty solid player. MoT can do his usual damage off the bench, I wonder if the Rox are trying to ship him out? C- Yao. I was hoping for the Magic to throw in DeClerq to backup Yao, but maybe McDyess could hold backup C for now.
here's a question: what position would you want to use the TE on? *impulse thought* Spoon + TE for Brian Grant?
I think getting Fisher would be ok after all since he know how to play with a big man and he's a good shooter from outside, that's the type of PG Rox need. Someone that can shoot and pass to big man. I don't think he mind leaving LA since the Lakers are so divided. Only problem is his age...but he still have some years left. Getting Troy Hudson would be great since he's a good shooter and a penetrator. Nick Van Excel, another deadly shooter from downtown but he's old. Steve Nash, that would be the gem if we can get him here. I figure if we have McGrady/Yao already, that would make him want to come here even more. Dallas ain't going anywhere! Rasheed Wallace...this guy can still change his mind and come to Houston....because family is a first for him and not his situation. So if his family says they want to come to Houston...he will consider it even if Pistons are Champions. Rox just need go get more good shooters to surround Yao/McGrady. Oh and they need another big man to replace Cato.
JVG commented that he is looking for players that perform in the playoffs. Who performed in the playoffs? When he was not injured.............Fisher. Look for Derrick to be in our camp soon.
going to the pistons got him one ring, but joining T-Mac and Yao could get him several more...If the Rockets can trade MO/Juwan and TE for a signed Wallace. It would be over...
One player not to be overlooked is Boston's Mark Blount. After O'Brien was fired, Blount said that he would leave and go where ever O'Brien ended up because he gave Bloutn a chance. Now if we can get our hands on Blount.....
