Here's the rundown: I did a manual scan w/ Symantec Antivirus and it found 2000 adware programs on my computer. It has deleted about 1/2 of them but the rest of the files were left unchanged. Anyone know how I can get rid of this?
download the following and run them in safe mode. Also, run symantec again in safe mode. To open windows in safe mode hit f8 when your computer starts. (Generally during the first startup screen which will say, dell, gateway, etc.. whatever your computer manufacturer is) Also, before you run these scans make sure all of them are updated completely. Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html Adaware http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ If you want you can also get Windows Defender and run this as well http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
