On our last cruise, we brought a ton of alcohol on board. We also packed a blender and about 6 frozen drink mix cans, plus grapefruit juice. We had one of the nice balcony rooms that came with a refrigerator.
We went with a huge group of people and we always had before dinner drinks on our balcony. It was very relaxing and fun to hang out on the balcony with a frozen drink in your hand. (plus you get away from the annoying Caribbean music they tend to play in all public areas)

You can also bring your own wine on board and pay a corkage fee if you end up bringing it to dinner. We never paid this fee as our waiter liked us.
The wine selection on board tend to be...not so good.

IF they open your bags and remove your alcohol they will store it until you get back.

I'm not a huge fan of Caribbean cruises. Next time we do something like that it will either be an Alaskan cruise or a Mediterranean cruise.

Wow really how did you get away with that? what cruise line did you take? seems like some people have made it passed security with it, and some think its impossible.

    Alcohol....

Some here are saying you can bring your own, some are saying you can't. Not sure what to believe unless it's a case-by-case type basis. I've been on two RC cruises and never tried. I'm done with them, though. My next cruise will be on Carnival or Norwegian. Speaking of which, has anybody had any experience "smuggling" alcohol or whatever onboard on of those cruises?

We have done this on both a Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruises. This last time was the first time we brought the blender and will definitely do it again in the future. We also bought plastic margarita glasses and brought those too.

For the wine at dinner, just bring a cork screw with you, the kind that fold up easily that waiters use. Like she said, the wine on the cruises we were on really sucked and they ass rape you on the prices.

after doing more internet research, it seems that it varies by boat and cruise line. some places are more lax than others. the bottom line is that you walk up with 4 jug handles of liquor under your arms, they aren't going to let you bring it on board.

if you hide it, whether in a flask or not, you might get it confiscated and you might not. your best bet to smuggle booze on is probably in the beginning, as opposed to in port of calls, because you have the most luggage to hide it in.

Personal opinion really. We'd always get to the Port around 12-1. Once you get there it takes about 30 minutes to an hour to check in and get on board.

Technically you're not allowed to bring booze with you onboard, but I have done it on 8 cruises and never been stopped. My parents have been on 20+ cruises and have never had a problem. Just pack bottles of liquor in your suitcases, wrap them in towels/clothes, and you'll have no problem getting it on board. I've done this on Carnival, Norweigan, and Royal Carribean cruises.

As for sodas, those are totally allowed. We always just walk on carrying a 12 pack each.

I went on a cruise (Norwegian) last year, i didn't think about taking alcohol so the first 2 days were expensive, but once we stopped my brother and I each wore cargo shorts bought plastic liquor bottles with no metal and just kept them all in our pockets. A few of the people we met had the large mouthwash bottles filled with liquor and a few i spoke with just took a bottle or 2 and wrapped them in towels.

The first 2 days on the ship they offer a thermos that is refillable with "mixers" (coke, oj, whatever) for i think 39.99, we would take it to the bar, ask them to fill it with coke, they would smell it, realize what we were doing and fill it about 75% of the way for us.

We got to know one of the girls that worked in the spa and one of the bands that played and hung out with them most of the nights, one night i went into the bathroom to spike my drink and this guy walks in and laughs at me, come to find out later he was head of security, he hung with the same people we knew so he didnt seem to care.

I loved the Norwegian cruise (Eastern Caribbean) I plan to go again next year and do the western Caribbean cruise.

My friends and I are currently planning a summer vacation. One cruise we are looking at is a 5-night cruise of the Bahamas onboard the Carnival Fantasy -- departing from Charleston, SC.

I highly doubt there's anybody here that's taken this exact cruise before but was wondering if anybody had any feedback. I know the Fantasy is currently Carnival's oldest ship, but i've been reading up -- everything seems updated and improved.

I thought cruises were for lazy Americans. You should get a paddle boat and sail from island to island in the Caribbean yourself. Eat coconut and catch your own fish with a tackling line. Lazy fools.
