Was thinking about the WNBA Marketing thread about what commercials or advertising out there made you go "Hey I am going to go purchase/use that product because of the commercial!"? for me: Guiness (brilliant!) Gears of War commercial --I am not a huge video game guy and didnt know about the game but when I saw that commercial I knew I was going to buy it even if it was a terrible game, but luckily for me it wasn't. Womens Beach Volleyball-- Smartest and cheapest idea really. Girls had temporary Tattoos right above their butts for advertisers. Was watching a match 2 weeks ago and saw Vive Cuervo above the girls butt and sure enough 5 minutes later my roommate and I were drinking magaritas. FSN Regional Sports Commercials --those were funny (the one with the face slapping contest etc) but then I quickly realized FSN programming wasnt good 300 Movie trailer --that trailer made the movie look amazing and to me it was a disappointment really..great action and all, but it could have been a lot better than it is imo. The trailer was edited beautifully though. I probably mentioned this because I was soo psyched to see this opening night, as were a lot of my friends based on the trailer and we all left disappointed. I know there are more those just come to mind right away for me

I'm trying to think of an advertisement which has influenced my decision to choose to purchase a specific product... and I honestly can't think of any. The only ones I can think of are for movies which look like they might be good.
It's hard to think of good marketing outside of Movies. In fact, I believe that Movies live or die on their marketing more than their actual content. Bruckheimer/Bay movies come to mind. I can remember some that were stinkers, like the first PS3 commercials with that weird tribal/squid thing going on. EDIT - Ok, I thought of one. That new ad for Tropicana Raspberry Acai juice was so effective it made me want to buy a whole crate of it. I bought some last night and its some good ****.
