    2 years, $17 mil doesn't sound like a pay cut to me. It seems like alot of you guys underestimated the open market value of a guy who's still a prolific hitter at a position where good hitters are scarce.

    Since he signed 1 day after arbitration wasn't extended, I'm guessing the risk wasn't that high, after all. A draft pick would have been a nice bonus, but water under the bridge.

    All I was trying to point out is if the Astros didn't want to pick up his option at 9 mil in the first place, then why take the risk of him taking arbitration at close to the same amount. Is a draft pick in baseball worth getting stuck with a contract you really don't want? That's all I was trying to say. MLB picks are the hardest to gauge of any major sport.
