This game was like Deja Vu...... The Rockets are hard to beat when they play as a TEAM... But when they go into their 1 on 1 act they are no where close to being good. Let's look back 2 previous losses... The Mavs... They were burning the Mavs until the end of the 2nd quarter when they went away from TEAM play to 1 on 1 play. Let's go to the Lakers Game... They were in total control of the game when they were playing as a TEAM and then all of a sudden BAM... They go into their 1 on 1 offense... Now there's an old saying... "Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me." It's Adelman's job to get these guys back on track to playing TEAM ball... I know last year there was a lot of complaints when Artest would get away from the offense and do his own thing. Well on one offensive set at the end of the game... I saw Ariza, go 1 on 1, he misses they get the rebound and then brooks goes 1 on 1 and he misses and they get the rebound and then Shane shoots a long 3 and Phoenix gets the rebound. It's not just 1 or 2 players it's 4 and 5... At times you see Lowry going 1 on 1 for long stretches... You see Scola LOSING HIS MIND at times thinking he's the re-incarnation of Hakeem.... So when when the kindergarteners get out of hand.. Maybe the Teacher/Principle (Aldeman) needs to step in and get them back in line. I know this is a young team and there's a big learning curve; but so far this year this team as hung in there with the big boys and they have surprised the so call experts... So Adelman when they get off track, please grow a pair to get them back on the right track. T_Man
Adelman will let the players figure it out which I think is a much better way than repeating the "team play" for the 5002th time.
I understand what you are saying, but you let a veteran team figure it out... You have to guide a young team until they understand how to figure it out... This is why coach's like Phil Jackson don't like to coach young teams
anyone has a legit situation as to why adelman didn't call time when we're down 6 and there's some 30 seconds left? i thought he kinda took a nap there.
This isn't a team made up of rookies. The majority of these players have been under Adelman for three seasons now. He knows what he is doing in letting them figure it out. He's done it this way for the last two seasons and he isn't going to do different this season.
If TEAM ball worked all the time on this level than all teams would play more like adelman teams. Ball movement is important but when the D tightens up, sometimes you MUST go 1on1. That's why you need a star to be a contender, there's no way around it. What do you think the suns did while we were stopping their normal PnR offense? They went to Amare, 1on1.
ibm, I'm kind of in the same boat. Lets not forget this isn't the first time. He was absolutely clueless last yr many times, but I can not speck his coaching one bit this year. Although there are things he does we don't understand, how he gets this team to play this hard and compete with the teams right up there we don't either.
Exactly, It comes down to execution. This team needs to learn how to close games, Rick can't hold their hands forever. Give it time we'll get there.
I will say that I tough Aaron looked off Landry in the post too much. He had Frye on him with 5 fouls on the blocks plenty of times. Finding the mismatch and feeding the hot hand should be emphasized in the closing minutes.
It's the PG job in running a game, this is Rafer's strength and why he and artest didn't get along last year. Brooks doesn't really know how to run a team and lowry is sometimes too aggressive.
Coach 'A' failed to have his 5 best scoring players in the game during the last 5 mins. this is a coaching failure in my eyes.
He tried every combo he could tonight, nobody played that well. Usually Lowry can come in and get us seperation with Chase, but not the case tonight. But our defense was horrible.
Lets consider that the Rockets played probably the best team in the NBA and still had a shot to win it near the end after beating soundly one of the top teams of the NBA the other night. There's not much reason to be critical.
